Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired university teacher and librarian with interest in Civil War burials and burial practices. Also undertaking to photograph all cemeteries in Erath County, TX, and surrounding counties, then to enter the tombstone information into the database. Many older tombstones are in such shape as to be illegible, so corrections to bad or missing biographical information is welcomed.

Please make requests for additions, corrections, links, etc., directly from the memorials' "edit" feature rather than here. I'll get to them much faster. (Transfers to direct descendants, please, and not in bulk lots!)

One more source
I requested Victoria Smith's (Memorial# 21877783)date of birth changed. The source is 1860 United States Census, Hopkins County Texas, Household 1040, Victorine Smith Age: 6/12. Date of enumeration: 15 SEP 1860- 6 months= March 1859. While some sources may show different dates, this is the most accurate available.

Thanks again,
Joshua Smith

Henry Smith
I requested a few edits on Henry Smith and Victoria Smith in Pony Creek Cemetery. My source for his date of death and relationship to Victoria T Smith is Alabama, Texas, and Virginia Confederate Pensions 1884-1958: Application #42759. The source for the location of Henry Smith's birth, is Lamar County Texas Tax Rolls 1844-1846 for J.M. Smith.

A cemetery
You may already know this. I was told today there is a community cemetery that is on private property now that is not being kept up and the iron fence that use to be around it some one has stolen. I don't know what the name of it is or if it has been plotted . It is on Monte Tatum's land at 4750 highway 1702 in Gustine, TX. He is an older person and might be able to give information on the markers missing if someone talks to him before it is too late.
I just thought this might be of interest to you I don't live anywhere close.
