Jo Ann & Gary lived in Clear Spring and Hagerstown in western Maryland all their life until 1994 when they retired to Florida. While in Maryland, Jo Ann was an accountant, managed a local golf course, and owned and operated an off course golf shop. Gary taught school for 30 years, played baseball, officiated basketball, football, and umpired baseball for about 25 years. He was athletic director at a local high school and coached several sports. He was athletic director for the Hagerstown City Playground Association for many years. After retiring to Florida Gary earned his PhD in Constitutional Law and American history. That way, he figured he would appear to be almost as smart as Jo Ann. In Florida, they enjoy traveling to the Caribbean, playing golf, and researching their ancestry. Their family roots run through the following names: Robinson, Faith, Miner, Miller, Hoover, Martin, Smith, Otto, Fogle, Pittinger, Six, Barnhart, Hollenberry, Haifleigh, Mundey, Bragunier, McCartin, McLaughlin, Moore, Muhollen, and Myers. They are eager to offer help to anyone needing it.
RE: Lewis Smith Hi Gary, I am glad that the obit was helpful to you. I am not related to your family. I go into the archives of the Carroll County Times, Westminster, Md and put obits on memorials. I enjoy learning all the stories and connections. My family was from Carroll County in large part so I am familiar with a lot of the older families. As far as Lewis Smith and Elias Hollenberry go, can you provide any dates? I can search the archives back to about 1912. Becky
RE: Rose Hill & Rest Haven, Md Sorry it has taken me so long to reply but I have been working on so many cemeteries in so many states. My Husband's name is Harold Robinson, he was born in Maine, attended 13 different schools, graduated in Japan. His father is also Harold Robinson and was a Civilian Personnel officer. His mother and father are buried in Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater, Me. I am from Virginia and was in the USAF, met Robbie in Puerto Rico and that's how I ended up in Maine.
Rose Hill & Rest Haven, Md I see you have taken quite a few pics in these cemeteries. I hope you are close enough to fulfill my request. I have been to Rest Haven and tried my best to find Maude Matthews to no avail. I just got another location for her and it seems she is in the little a section, whatever that means. Should you return I hope you will fulfill my request. Jan
