To 99% of the Contributors and Photo Volunteers here at Find A Grave I have four words for you – Thank You Very Much. I have found some really great people associated with this site. Many of them that I have been in contact with have gone way out of their way to lend a helping hand. |
In August of 2004 I began to seriously research the families of my dad Ray English and my mom Mary Evelyn Pool.
Ancestors of my two Grandfather's ENGLISH and POOL families as well as ancestors of my two Grandmother's TALLEY and PITCOCK families ventured out from Virgina in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Taking four different paths via Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Texas, four of them eventually made their way to Franklin County, Arkansas where my parents were born.
On a personal note: Jim, we had a lot of fun in our adventures down many roads to lots of places. I remember them all. I know "Little Laurie" is safe in her Daddy's arms finally.
And for crying out loud Shirely, put the mop away and throw the dust rag in the trash. A little dust is okay. Even in heaven.

Bill, I am sending this message to you in Heaven...I cannot thank you enough for all the information on the Pool/Poole/Pettypool families. I am so indebted to you always. You are greatly missed by not only me, but by all the others you have guided in our journey looking for our families....Please take care of all of our illustrious family that are up there with you. Tell them, we will all be together someday. I am looking forward to that my friend.......Dani Parr

Bill, I was so sorry to hear that you have passed away. I know that after your family, genealogy was your next love, one that I shared with you. Thanks for searching for my great grandparents English, but to no avail. I have renewed my search tonight in your memory. Enjoy Heaven.

I will certainly check out the resources you have given me.
I think you probably have the answer to John Duff.
I wonder if perhaps his biological father was named Duff.
The only person who ever said to me that John Duff was illegitimate was the daughter of Ilene (Rickard) & Arthur Daugherty (Ann Daugherty Miller)Ann was the granddaugher of Willoughby "Litt" & Roberta Davis Rickard.
In the 1880 Bremen, Muhlenberg Co., Ky census, George and Jinney (Virginia Johnson) Rickard had a 13 years old nephew named McDuffa in their hhold. I wonder if it was John Duff Rickard.
In my records I have John Duff as the brother of George W. Rickard, as sons of Matthew & Martha Lucinda Kittinger . I recorded it that way because of the info on John Duff's death certificate.

I agree Mary Ann's name was not DUFF. I think the author of the memorial got that wrong and now the author, Delores, can no longer be contacted through Find A Grave.
I think maybe you and I talked about John Duff Rickard and Martha Ellen Rickard before.
I always thought she was a Rickard by birth, and her death certificate lists Jacob Rickard and Dorthy Ann Mauzy/Magee as parents . Dorthy's last name is difficult to make out. This info was given by her son, Willoughby "Litt" Rickard. I guess he would know.
I can't decide if I think Matthew (father of John Duff)? and Jacob (father of Martha Ellen) were brothers. I guess it doesn't make a great deal of difference. I do know the history for sure of Martha & John & their descendents.

Do you have any info on the above John Duff Rickard. I have heard from family members that perhaps he was not the son of Matthew & Martha Rickard.
On memorial 94294721 Mary Ann Rickard Miller the author of memorial has referred to her as "Duff" being the maiden name.
I have written to Delores about the memorial, but have not heard back.

Your very welcome Bill. I'm glad I could help out.
|Anita R. Austill||Rickard|
I hope I have it right now. If Permelia died from complications of Olivers birth, why did she die in 1876? Never mine, just make sure I have it right.

Honestly my bio pic is something I found several years ago when I started here on find a grave. I don't know much about it. However if I had the chance to plan my own gravestone I would like to have something like it.
Thank you for sharing the rest of the story for the Hosea Benton Kackley family. Are you related? I am the Jacob Kackley family Historian. I have corrected my records also.
