Information
I am Teresa Oakes the wife to the Pastor at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Troy Al. Rev. JB Huckabee was the first pastor of the church we are at. Our church will be celebrating a 100 years of Homecoming celebrations and we are trying to find information on that past Pastors and possibly pics. I was wondering if you have any information if this could be the JB Huckabee that pastored here. Thanks in advance and God Bless You.

RE: Dr Francis Barnes and Ionia Ball Barnes
http://www.saveourcemeteries.org/cypress-grove-cemetery/

the link has some information on Cypress Grove Cemetery

if you look at the picture of the tombstone, above Ionia's name is " ..nes, sr" 1844 and water..:

I found Henrietta Barnes who died 1844 in Vicksburg and was buried in Cypress Grove. she is wife of Francis Barnes sr.

I found Frances Barnes sr who died 10/10/1854 and has a will and says Francis jr lives in St Joseph parish and also daughter Elizabeth Barnes Baggett of Mississippi

I set these 2 up as parents of Dr Francis Barnes 1823-1872

I know in the 1930's in the wpa project, people would go to cemeteries and list the names on tombstones, so there should be tombstone inscriptions for cypress grove -there was a copy at the downtown NO library- that should give you what the stone actually said

I can't really tell you more about the grave-I went and took pictures of the older graves especially with broken stones, before they disappear- Lots of the graves have no stones, so you are lucky to have this much, and I am glad someone can use this-
Good luck with your search,
Claire
