It seems no matter where my family lived growing up we always lived within walking distance of a very old small cemetery. I grew up taking many walks through the cemeteries and reading the enscriptions on the old headstones and wondering what thier lives were like. So when I found this website I thought it was GREAT! I became a find a grave volunteer photographer and really enjoy traveling to all of the cemeteries around Iowa. I don't think many people are aware of the different kinds of unusual cemeteries there are out there! A little about what I do when I get a photo request: I first look to see if there are many in that cemetery listed on find a grave and I print out the list if it isn't very long. Then I go and take photos of not only the one requested but also of any others listed for that cemetery that do not yet have a gravestone listed. I will post the photo. If I have posted one on one of your ancestors and you don't want it there please just let me know and I will remove it! Also I take any photos of head stones with the same last name of the person requested and send them to the requestor if they are not listed on find a grave. The reason I do this is maybe the requestor doesn't know their ancestor is buried in that cemetery or they haven't gotten around to posting that person yet. This way they will have the photo when they decide to post them. Also if I have posted a photo of a headstone on your site please be sure to click on the photo because I always write down what the headstone says. Sometimes a given name might be spelled differently or the dates might be different from what the person has posted. And I will post what ever scripture might be on the stone that I can make out.|

I wonder if I may have your permission to use your cemetery photos on my family website. Check it out at www.freienmuth-shortridge.com/shortridge/cemeteries.html. This is how I'd be using the photos and obituaries I find on Find A Grave, with 'used with permission' in the caption.
Thank you so much for the photo of Clarence headstone!
Thank you so much for photographing the Johnson memorials at West Prairie.

Thank you so much for taking the time to take these photos for me! It means a great deal to me to be able to see this headstone picture as I likely will not have the opportunity to see it in person. Thanks for all you do! :)
