RE: Clara Pease Beaver
Hi Joan:

can't tell if you answered my previous e-mail. do you still want the diary? I don't want to send it over this site; however, I will be glad to either email it to you via your personal email address or send it to you on a CD to your mailing address.

RE: Clara Pease Beaver
Hi Joan: Boy, this hurts my head!!!!

Well, in talking with my mother, who is now 98, she tells me her grandmother, Elizabeth Hess (via her dad, Adam), was Christian's 2nd wife and when she died, he married Clara. Do you have the marriage dates to refute that? She also gave me the information on the others in the bio. She would like to know if your grandmother's last name was Mueller.

She remembers an "Aunt Alice Beaver Mueller" who had 17 children. She was Uncle Riley's sister and Chris's 1st daughter.

Is Alice Helen Josefine & Alice Beaver Mueller mentioned in your note the same person?

As for Peter's info, the bulk of it came from the Wisconsin Historical Society on the 36th Wisconsin (that's where it lists the battles of the 36th), but I also obtained his pension file from the National Archives and got a copy of his OBIT. I found the names of some of the men (not many) listed in Peter's regiment and have read their accounts relating to the last year of the war, Gen Grant's Overland Campaign, and the II Army Corps.

I had also been conversing with Kelly Snyder (he is a descendent of Sophia, I think); although, not recently. He sent me a copy of Peter's diary. I don't know how he obtained his copy, but there is a copy in the Wisconsin Historical Society,

Now, I have one question for you, Do you know if Christian served in the military? There is a military medallion at his headstone, but it doesn't indicate which war he fought in. Could it have been the Spanish American War? I can't find a military record for him in the National Archives.

RE: (Joshua) Christian Beaver
Hi Joan:

I used the reference that is on the Christian Beaver and Catherine Havice web page. I don't know who created the page.

http://familyarchive.lefora.com

I was surprised to see "Joshua" there too.

I do know the men alternated the names of their first born between Christian and Peter e.g. Peter's oldest son was named Christian (my great-grandfather) and so-on.

I'm not sure if everything on this site is accurate.

What line of Peter's children do you belong to?

This summer I will be walking the battlefields where Peter fought.

Nice to hear from you.

Eve
