Bio and Links
Bio Photo I will no longer take action on transfer requests sent to me any way other than using the "EDITS TAB" on memorials I have entered. I'm open to transferring the management of memorials, providing the memorials are not in my direct line and fall close to the FAG relationship guidelines "more can be negotiable"

====================================

For me, Find A Grave is about Honoring the persons we create memorials for. It should NOT be a NUMBERS GAME.

====================================

*****"PLEASE (Out of respect) do not post death certificates on any memorials I have "created" or "maintain" as the information on death certificates is not always accurate and the "Cause Of Death" does not need to be seen "THANK YOU"*****

====================================

I have found findagrave completely addicting. I think one reason I like it so much is that I get to help others find lost love ones.

The memorials I post are a combination of family memorials and ones from photos I take at my local cemeteries along with other sources.

=====================================

Genealogy, begins as an interest, becomes a hobby, continues as an avocation and in the last stages, is an incurable disease.

I firmly believe that no one, no matter how "minor" he or she may have been, should EVER be forgotten.

I believe it is our duty to honor our ancestors, carry on their traditions, and never forget them. One way to do this is by visiting their resting place either in person or through their Memorials on Find A Grave.

I honestly make a diligent effort not to create duplicate memorials; these slipped right by me when I photographed the cemetery. Please take anything I posted on Ruby and add them to your memorial, and I will delete the one I created.

It looks like I created a duplicate memorial. I know of no way to merge memorials, but you are welcome to copy whatever I have on mine, and I will delete the one I created. Let me know what I can do to help.

RE: Frank Daniel Sheffield
Mary,

My mom (Melba Jean) lives in Georgia. She is a nurse. I just spoke to her a moment ago to let her know that Frank Sheffield was her father and sent her the picture from your memorial.

I can see a resemblance in my mom from Frank's picture and of his father Mose. My Aunt Lorene lives in South Carolina. She and my mom look nothing alike. We weren't sure who took after what family since we didn't know who they were.

My Aunt Lorene is fair with red hair and freckles. My mom has dark hair, high cheek bones, and tans so dark it is unbelievable. She looks like she has a lot of Native American traits.

The last residence for Melba Ann Jones according to her son Miles Murphy was Clifton, Texas where she passed away on January 5, 2013.

Did your family ever explain what happened between Melba Ann and Frank? Why they split up? Why the girls were given up? I'm sure there is a story there but I only know what my mom told me, which had more to do with Melba Ann's decisions rather than Frank's.

I can send you pictures if you would like of my mom and Aunt. I don't know how secure this forum is with information. If you don't mind sending me your private e-mail address I can send you any information you would like to have. My direct e-mail is on my profile page.

RE: Frank Daniel Sheffield
Thank you for the validation. I had a gut feeling Frank was the correct relative I'd been searching for but if it wasn't for the information I found on this site I wouldn't have been able to make the connection. So, thank you for all that you are doing here.

Frank Sheffield is my biological grandfather. My mother is Melba Jean Sheffield (adopted Satterfield & married a Mansfield). The word "field" in a surname has some sort of connection with her I guess. She was born on 09-27-1945 in Hillsboro, Texas. She was given up for adoption along with my Aunt Lorene in 1950. She was 5 and my Aunt Lorene was 2.

They both were adopted together by J.C. Satterfield and Laura Haslam. So, if you try to search birth records their name is on the birth certificate instead of their biological parents. Their biological mother is Melba Ann Jones. I was able to make contact with "Ann Jones" eldest son which was able to verify her as the biological mother.

I had a hard time finding Frank because my mom and aunt thought his first name was "Frances". They had last heard from someone that their father passed away and was living in Iowa. So, I just kept researching "F Sheffield" living in Iowa and found your record.

Frank Daniel Sheffield
Hello Grave Walker:

I've been researching for what I call my "missing link" relatives on my mother's side. My mother was adopted so it makes it a bit of a challenge. The only information I had to go on was a partial name of the biological mother and the last known residence of the biological father, which is what led me to Frank Daniel Sheffield. The last known residence was Iowa.

I follow very strict guidelines when doing research so I will not add a relative unless I can validate it with reliable sources. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck in that arena. However, I found it interesting that Frank Sheffield was born in Hill County, Texas. My mother and aunt (they are biological sisters) were both born in Hill County, Texas. Their mother is Melba Ann Jones. I just recently validated her as the mother! Then I saw in the biography for Frank that he married "Melba Ann James".

My first thought was "James" might be a typo or just an error in verbal information from a third party? I wanted to know if you personally knew Frank enough to have knowledge if he had two daughters in Texas with Melba Ann Jones in 1945 & 1948. Both were given up for adoption in 1950. They were adopted together.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Kristie

Jessie Jewell Taylor Baker
Hello Grave Walker,

Jessie Jewell Taylor Baker, is a cousin of mine
by marriage. She married Gerald Donald "Jerry"
Baker July 29, 1951 in Parkin, Cross, AR, and
where I got her full name was from the marriage
record in AR. I am also in touch with her daughter-in-law, Pat Baker, who has given me info
and pictures of Jewell, plus other family members
of my "Scheinert" family. I am doing and so is
Pat, family history research.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me
know. My personal email address is the same as
for Find A Grave. I also have a public tree on Ancestry,
and all info is sourced-I do not put anything with
out comfirming first.

Sincerely,
Rebekah H. Scheinert Younce
