I am slowly working on photographing Ascension Cemetery because it is closest to my home. I am not related to most of those buried there. I consider it my contribution to the find-a-grave website as a return favor for those who have photographed entire cemeteries far away, greatly helping my own personal family research.|
I've been side-tracked lately with photographing Loma Vista in Fullerton. Done with photographing the Northeast, Cypress and East Lawns in the older part of the cemetery. Currently working on Grandview Lawn. Mostly what I consider "mass production" by sweeping the stones, taking a picture and posting memorials just to get the names out there.

Hello! I am about to fulfill your photo requests but unfortunately, there were no markers to photograph. If the location is correct (Camellia, lot 86) that is part of a scattering garden for cremations. Or at least, it was. I don't think there are any new scatterings there, but I have been to this location for a photo request before. The "garden" is actually a narrow strip with some small trees and flowering shrubs, located on the north side of the Inglewood Mausoleum. The photo that I am adding shows lots 85 and 86.
Sorry this was not a more positive outcome.

This cemetery is enormous. There are about 21,000 burials here. If you look at the photos for this cemetery, there is a map and you will see names of different sections. Each section has upward of 400 plots in it. If you could get the name of the section it would help. I don't have a map of plots and when I go there the office is hardly ever open so I can't access the map inside the office. I will be going back now and then and if you call the office at 816-279-5005 and get a section name and post it with your request or on the memorial page, someone should have a better chance of finding the marker. Directions or a location within the section could help as well. The office personnel don't want a person like me asking for the locations of a whole bunch of people....they just don't have time for it all at once.
I hope this will help you find your loved one.

Thanks for the pics. I appreciate it! Can you tell me who is buried beside William George Buttree (Find A Grave Memorial# 106253920)? Name starts with J Elm 1869.

I am a F-A-G volunteer like you are. I am doing this to save you time and disappointment. I would want to be treated this same way.
Sadly, there is absolutely NO cooperation from the San Luis Cemetery with Find A Grave volunteers. I was threatened with the police by the owner of the San Luis Cemetery, just talking to him over the phone.
However, there has been great success with the San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society. They completed exhaustive photographing of gravestones at San Luis Cemetery.
You can email a request for a photo of the grave stone(s) you are looking by doing the following; and they will respond promptly:
Address your email to
Put in the subject line
San Luis Cemetery Headstone photo
Give them the name and birth and death dates, or as much as you know.
Ask them to send a picture of the headstone, and tell them how you are related or what your interest is in this person.
They will appreciate that. This information may only be used in genealogical research.
They will email you within a day or two with an attached photo(s), if it exists.
I will ask that your request be removed (so others arenít discouraged), now that you have a very reliable and quick way to achieve your goal. If there is any problem, please let me know.

I'm happy to help out Lesa!! I went in search of them a week ago Saturday and couldn't find them for the life of me. I was able to get help this Saturday from one of the wonderful people that work in the office. He went out with his book and showed me exactly where they were!

I am heading to Laredo next spring and am going to try to knock out some of the photo requests. I was wondering if you could try to get the plot number for me as it's a big cemetery. Thanks Lynne
