NOTE: As of April 2016, I've made it through surgery and chemotherapy, and have been cancer-free since August 2014. I'm very hopeful, and very appreciative of all the words of kindness and encouragement.
As of August 2014, I'm dealing with my mother's recent death and my own recent cancer diagnosis. Please be patient with any suggestions / edits you send. Thanks in advance!
[PLEASE read (starting with para. 2) before contacting me about a memorial; it will save us both time and trouble. Thanks!]
I'm a history major and a lawyer (University of Virginia, Emory University;) a fanatic about live music (Todd Rundgren, Gene Owens, the blues;) and a photographer. I'm a wife and a mother (a son who recently graduated from law school at the University of Georgia and a daughter who recently graduated from Tulane.) I have a house full of rescued dogs and cats.
If I'm the caretaker of a memorial for someone who was closer to you than to me, I'll consider transferring that memorial to you; feel free to ask, but please include DETAILS as to your relationship to the deceased.
If you have additional information or links that you want added to a memorial, please send details and DO include links to your SOURCES: I'm unlikely to make additions/links if I can't verify their accuracy
All requests for transfers, all suggestions, and all corrections MUST be sent via the edit tab on the memorial in question. If you use the "Other" option you'll be able to send an explanation of, and links to, your sources for suggested changes to a memorial.
If you need to write me at my email address about something else (e.g., a suggestion or correction I've sent you,) PLEASE include a copy of any relevant correspondence and a link to the memorial(s) in question.
If I've posted a cemetery photograph that you want to use on Ancestry, please feel free to do so IF and ONLY IF you include the entire caption as the photograph description. You MUST get my express permission to use any of my photographs OTHER than those taken in cemeteries.
RE: Illness, Insurance Companies, &c. I'll ask what size next time I go in. One doctor did want to bio but she was overruled. So I'll check on that. Thanks for thinking of me. I think of you and sure hope your days are bright and cancer free.
Carstens, Henry Hi Ellen, As you will see I've posted a photo for the above named person. The only problem with it is upon doing some research on familysearch.org I find a Henry D. Carstens, B. in Germany, 1840 - 1905, that is the reason for the Edit of his middle initial. After I submitted the Edit for his initial, I look closer at the marker and that person's middle initial is "C". So, not sure if it was a mistake or what. I posted the photo, let me know what you think. Sue
RE: Illness, Insurance Companies, &c. Finally changed insurance company and new one approved ALL tests ordered. So far nothing has shown up that we did not already know about. Still have another lung test to do and results from heart scan not back yet. New cardio took me off one med and I do feel better. Two docs think lung spots are old scars and new inflamnation, one still questions. However, can't do biopsy because not large enough spot to hit. So , just thought I would let you know latest. Thanks for caring.
James Thomas Bales Dear Ellen, Hope my additions did not confuse you. I see you have done an excellant job of tracing the Bales' family. Thanks. I was unable to locate burial place of James Autrey Bales and wife, Katie Ray Kilgore. Probably in Hall or Jackson County. Thanks for all your fine work on Find A Grave. Sin cerely, Wesley Martin
All the power and glory are Ellen's Now, and forever. I remeber how fair a person yu was to me during all that blood and guts of the old forum. I had to take down ALL my near family sites. I don't want to go back to those battle weary days on wounded knee. All the character assassinations and frontal attacks nearly got me down. You were a light shining in the dark, and I am sorry if knowing me drug you down into hell. I love you.
