I currently live in the Richmond, Virginia area. I have been researching since about 1991. I recently started adding photographs to my research. |
I enjoy walking old cemeteries and documenting the grave stones for families requesting such information and also to preserve in history the head stones of our lost generations. There are so many grave markers that are unreadable and unknown to the future generations. Once lost, they are lost forever and unknown to future generations and families.
I also have taken the task of documenting as many veterans as possible. They served our country and need not be forgotten, but saved for future generations to remember.

Thank you for your work in making Find a Grave the great place it is, and particularly thank you for adding the burial sites of Gilbert Williams, his wife Adah, and daughter Lydia, all buried in Richmond.
Gilbert was born in a small town in New York state, married, had a family, and then farmed in the Southbury, CT area for a spell. His daughter Minnie married there to Alanson Hebert Atwood, and they are my gg-grandparents. Minnie left a hand-written family tree, but her notes are very hard to understand, and left as many questions as answers. I knew her parents were Gilbert & Adah (Williams) Williams; that she had a brother Gilbert and a sister Lydia (among others) but I could find no trace of her family after the 1880 census. I have been combing likely areas of CT and NY looking for burial sites. Then yesterday I found some old family letters. One from her dated March 1919 to her son Lyman mentions her trip to "Richmond to see pa while he yet lives." It would have taken me YEARS to make this connection without that small hint and your memorials on this site.
Sorry to have left such a long message - I will have some updates which I will do thru the edit tab, but just wanted you to know this story.

Hello, I was wondering if you knew of smaller cemeteries in the area that are not on Find A Grave. I am looking for Bushrod Lynn's brother, Henry Clay Lynn and his first wife, Jennie H Lynn. They lived in Richmond, Jennie died April 27, 1892 and Henry died sometime in 1915. They also had two children that died as infants, Lena and Herbert. I have records from Ancestry.com that show they all lived in Richmond and Jennie, Herbert and Lena died in Richmond. Not sure where H Clay died, I cannot find that record.
