Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi, I have been doing family Genealogy as far back as I can remember. My Great Aunt Pauline had me walking in cemeteries as soon as I was old enough to walk. My aunt Pauline Myers died in 2000 but I still carry on with her research.

This is a wonderful place to remember our loved ones and too pass along information to others. Coming from a military family I have been trying to record the graves of the Veterans, especially the civil war vets. Many of the old stones are gone but with a sight like this maybe they will not be forgotten. My daughter and I spend weekends finding old cemeteries that have been forgotten, (a lot of walking). We have also recorded cemeteries where all headstones are gone and the only records for these graves are recorded at the county library.

I want to thank Dave and Apple Dwiggins for the info on the Indiana Service men who were killed during World War II, and are buried at the Manila American Cemetery. See their web page here.

My grandma, Inez Rogers (Buried at Grandview Cemetery, Vigo Co. IN) died Aug. 7th 2009 if you have time please visit her memorial and leave a flower.

RE: Edits
I am not directly related to the people in the Hogue Cemetery. I was doing some linking and saw this little cemetery whee most of the people, particularly the children, were not linked to any family members. Also, it looked like the gravestone were quite weathered and what information on them needed to be captured before it is too late. So, I decided to give everyone a family tie. Thanks for your support in assisting in this effort. I had a good feeling for doing the work on this cemetery. I don't know who created the name for this cemetery, but the name of it should be changed for Hogue to HOGE because all the Hoges spell their surnames HOGE.

RE: Marshall connections
When my husband and I visited about 2 years ago, we were disturbed by the shrub (tree?) that was about to totally engulf one of our family headstones. I have not been able to get it out of my head and wish we lived close enough to go take care of it.

I, too, am passionate about visiting the grave sites of my ancestors. It is like "meeting" them, in a way.

In Him,

Thank you for your many contributions to the Find-A-Grave project!

I have a request. Please add parents to the family links of Erastus B Marshall, buried in Heddings [here Headings] Road Chapel Cemetery in Spencer, Owen County, Indiana.

Parents
Father: William G Marshall (1788 - 1872) (memorial #77578440)
Mother: Christiana Strawn Marshall (1798 - 1885) (memorial #77578618)

Thank you!

Also, do you know how we might go about correcting the spelling error in the name of the cemetery? (I have visited and the Courthouse records, local maps, and the signs on the road all say "Heddings".)

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Thank you kindly.

Kay Katopodis
RE: Cole Cemetery
Dear Vada, I was so glad to hear from you. Henry Harden is my great great grandfather the father of Lydia Hardin Thomas. Don't know why the last name is spelled different. I never knew too much about Lydia's side of the family. I was named after Lydia as my name is Lydia Kay, but I go by Kay. I did know that somehow we were related to the Harden side. So interesting to know that Josie Harden Rodgers was your great grandmother, I think she might have been my babysitter when I was a small child. Do you know if she lived in Saline City close to the picnic grounds years ago? If so she was our babysitter. I live in Saline City and have probably gone to the Saline City picnic every year since I can remember. I would like to keep in touch with you as I get more involved with the Harden side of the family and I haven't yet gotten into that side of my family too much other than my great grand mother Lydia, wife of Marion Thomas. They are both buried at McCullough Zion Gummere Cemetery in rural Cory, Indiana. If there is any information I can send you I would be glad to. My e-mail address is kraftykaykat@frontier.com. You are more than welcome to e-mail me at any time. Thanks so much again for your information. Kay

Cole Cemetery
Dear Vada, My name is Lydia "Kay" (Nees) Katopodis, and I'm working on genealogy for my paternal grandparents Marion & Lydia (Hardin) Thomas. They are buried at McCullough Zion Gummere Cemetery in rural Cory, Indiana. I noticed that you had a picture of Lydia's parents in Cole Cemetery and have Cemetery listed as in Center Point in Clay County, actually this Cemetery is in Clay City, Clay County Indiana. I also have other ancestors buried in Cole Cemetery so I have visited this cemetery, but didn't know my great great grandparents were buried there until I seen your genealogy on find a grave. I didn't even know the names of Lydia's parents. I will add them to my genealogy and go back to Cole Cemetery and visit their grave site. Thank You. Kay Katopodis. I was named after Lydia.

Aquila Laverty
Vada,
I recently had a request to change some info relating to Aquila Laverty buried in Hixon Cemetery, Wabash Twp., Parke Co, Indiana.

I received the following suggested correction: (FindAGrave reference #'s in parenthesis).

"I found that you have Elizabeth Justus Laverty (57186827) married two different Aquilla's.
She (Margaret Justus) was married to Aquila James Laverty (20707825) born in 1822. I have Aquila and Elizabeth's children as Mary, Henry Clay, George W., Jessie F., Irene, Erminie, and Kit Carson.

Aquilla also had children with his 2nd wife Lillian Mann. They were Aquilla b. 1896 and Cecil.

The other Aquila that you (me) have linked to Elizabeth Justus is the son of Alexander (20707825) and Margaret Justus (43175078) Lavertyl. He was born in 1850 not 1857 and died 2 Jan 1910. No date on the tombstone.

I have Aquilla James grandfather as Isaac Laverty and his grandmother, Jane Martin Laverty (57186832). I found Jane at Hixon Cemetery and took a picture of her tombstone.

I wanted to get your reaction to these suggested changes. Obviously, some of these changes would be on FindAGrave entries that you control.

When you get the time, let me know your thoughts on all of this. Thanks very much.
