Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am retired my goal is to add all of the cemeteries in Citrus County, but not just names but photographs too. I have added over 200 photographs to New Hope Cemetery. My other goal is to prove that New Hope is in Citrus County (I did) and also to map Oak Ridge so there is only one listing, not two. As a "Citrus County Keeper" I will continue to list all obituaries from the Chronicle every day. Week-ends may take a day or two longer. I am happy to fulfill photo requests and while I am doing that I always try to take a few more pictures to add. I do not want to be a pest when I try to straighten out these cemeteries, I realize that if you do not live here you are not familiar with some of the places. Also, some funeral homes are listed under cemeteries. We are trying to correct that.

If anyone has an addition or correction to anything I have posted please contact me and I will quickly correct it. I am more than happy to turn over ownership to anyone who requests it. AND PLEASE IF YOU SEE THAT I HAVE ENTERED A NAME TWICE, PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT IT. It is easy to make a duplicate without realizing it.

I believe that we are doing a service for future generations. I am dismayed that most newspapers are charging more for obituaries and only a few lines are free. This often leaves out date of birth and place of birth.

There is still a lot of work to do. Many current obituaries don't get recorded.

Some people are here only to add numbers, they do not care about preserving history.

Mary Ann Graham Smith Forster Powell
My granddaughter and I were searching for Captain Malcolm Alexander Smith for a school project and a future school trip to France to visit gravesites for WWII veterans. We were pleasantly surprised to find all this info on Mary Ann. Thank you for your hard work in supplying info to Find A Grave.

Are you by chance related at all to any of this family or are you walking cemeteries/searching/inputting obituaries. I do this in Alabama and find a kinship to those gone on before. I now feel like Mary Ann was my sister and hope that there were many happy moments in her life, since losing her husband in WWII, her child at age l, both her 2nd and 3rd husbands and two children.

Thanks again for your hard work.

Regis Steighner-#78652660
Hi Doris,

Thank you for transferring Regis' memorial to my care. I have updated it and linked it to his parents' memorials. I am still researching his actual burial place. If you find something, please let me know. It could be in Florida, or back in Pennsylvania, where he was born. He has many family members buried in Lancaster County, PA so, it's possible his remains were taken back there.

Regards, Kaye

Thank you so much for the transfer. My husband has many wonderful memories = because there was 10 years difference in age, he always called him "Uncle Normand" even though they were cousins. Thank you.

Spellings
One of the biggest hurdles in research is the spellings of names Pierce or pearce... Handwriting was so bad that often the names were misspelled and even changed over time.

The above link helps many but as for our two I don't know which is right. My name today is Hopkins but two centuries ago I found it spelled Hopkyns. My paternal grandmother was a McFarland from Ireland. When I got her birth certificate it was spelled McFarlin. Her father was spelled correctly and I found a document with my grandmothers signature that spelled it McFarland. So I just keep looking until I find a document and then go by it!
Please keep in touch!

RE: Jerry Curtis
Flag
****FIND A GRAVE will not allow this photo( which I now have set as my profile photo) to be placed in the photo area of memorials. Why? Because Find A Grave feels it is not an image that is personally attached to the deceased.
I as a wife of a Veteran and the grandmother of an active soldier feel the USA FLAG is personally attached to every veteran, after all they fought to defend it and served under this "image" IF that is not a personal attachment to the deceased veteran, then what is folks? So to the veteran's families who I had include this flag of HONOR to their memorial it was NOT removed by me but by Find A Grave. I am truely sorry that we can't show the image of our American Flag, that Veterans proudly served under, at half mask which is a sign of the quality of being thankful, appreciation for and to honor them.
I shot the photo at the Jacksonville National Cemetery as the US Flag is only at half mask Mon -Friday when a Veteran is being laid to rest. No copywrite was broken as I am the owner of photo.
