I currently reside in Gurdon, AR. I now suffer from poor health and don't have the stamina to walk around cemeteries too often anymore. But I'm still doing research on my own family and historical events (like the New London disaster) that touched my heart. |
I firmly believe that no one, no matter how "minor" he or she may have been, should EVER be forgotten.
Some of my close relatives:
Nelva Jean Shepherd
W. O. Beene
F. L. Shepherd
My young friend:
If you have any additional information on any of the people whom I have added, or would like me to take down any of the people whom I do have so you can add that person yourself (no one knows family better than family!) please let me know. I will be happy to comply with your requests.
Thank you to everyone who has left flowers for my family and the others I have added. I appreciate your remembrance of them, and I'm sure they would appreciate it, too.

Thank you for all of the hard work you have done! It is so nice to see the pictures and memorials here thanks to your efforts! I am a Sheffield. Minnie Ellen Taylor Sheffield and Zachery Taylor Sheffield were my great, great grandparents. I am always wanting to learn more about our family. In particular, Minnie's mother was Cherokee. Her name was Birdie Virginia Hancock. Anyway, would love to stay in touch and will continue to research our portion of the family!

|Betty Rhodes Gerth-Martin||Stone/Welch Information|
According to my records Margaret Stone and John Welch had these children. James B., probably named for her father, Flourney, Clemetine, Margaret Matilda, probably named for herself and my ancestor, her sister Matilda Stone Rhodes Hill, Beverly, Sarah Sally, Sebra and Henry Bowlen, named for her brother in law, Henry Bowlen Carrothers. Spellings may vary with records. Some of these children moved down into Earth and Comanche Cos. TX closer to Margaret's siblings.
Thank You for sharing, as genealogists we need all possible help and your info is wonderful and appreciated. Betty Rhodes Gerth-Martin

Glad to see a memorial for the New London victims. I was fortunate to know and work with one of the survivors several years ago.
Thanks again...Old MP

That memorial page is for Rose Hill Cem, Tyler, Smith Co, Tx
Sorry I didn't mention it before.

Just a note for future reference;
The stone shown for Opal M Sallee Mem #12479309
is missing the dod because Opal Matthews Sallee was actually buried in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Rains Co, Tx. She died in 1991.
You might make note of this on her mem page for others to see.

Christie, Thank you very much for transferring the Gilmore memorials. I will bring them up to date.
I'm still working on the African-American memorials at Muse Cemetery. I have the ones you transferred pretty much complete. There are about a half dozen that I cannot get the contributor to reply. It was very interesting identifying the families associated with the memorials.
