Hi, Jess. I'm Nat's grandson George. I stumbled onto a possible interesting Newman family tree member. Irene Nemirovsky (famous author-look on wikipedia) was born in Kiev. Her father Leon met her mother Fanny in Odessa. Family lore has it that the Nemirovsky's (Nat's parents) were from Odessa. Irene's family fled to Paris around the time of the Russian Revolution as did Nat's family although it must have been many years before. Do you think we are related to Irene? Contact me at email@example.com. By the way, are we related?

Thanks so much for that. Yes, I found those death records too. The weird thing with Jacob is that he has 1 certificate number (24096, Kings), but is listed under 2 different names (Neuman and Newman) and 2 different DOBs (66 yrs old or 73 yrs old) - on the same certificate number! Can't wait to get my hands on THAT original! Thanks again!!!

Greetings, Jess! You mentioned that you have a "collection" of Jacob Newmans. I'm looking for one that was born between 1865 and 1870 in Hungary (Austria), and died in Kings County (probably Brooklyn) on December 7, 1935. His wife was Minnie Newman who possibly died Oct 14, 1944 in Kings County also. Thanks so much!!!

I would call the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery office in Iselin, NJ and ask. They seem pretty organized there.
