|TKelsey||Lucy Tokesay Higginson Burwell Ludwell|
The portrait you included on Lucy Higginson Burwell Ludwell's grave listing is not of her. It is of Lucy Randolf Burwell. The portrait is vetted by The Virginia Historical Society and is on their website.
Please consider updating.

Hi again, Christopher,
...and thanks for your swift response! I'm wondering whether the engraving you'd uploaded is a portrait of the noted David Philom Young (1781-1852). He's buried near David Young (1705-1765) in the Hanover Presbyterian Churchyard, and is listed among Findagrave's "Famous" burials because he was an astronomer and co-founder of The Farmer's Almanac.

I've added the date & place of birth you've suggested to David Young's page, and have credited you as the source of this info in the "Notes" section, but I do have some concerns as to whether he is the individual pictured in the engraving you've added, which shows a gentleman in early 19th Century dress, not one who lived in colonial times. Can you tell me more about David? There was no photography during his lifespan (1705-1765), and only the very wealthy could afford to have their portraits painted. Could this engraving be based on a portrait of a David Young descendant with the same name?
Thanks for your input.
Yes, I would like to see your tree. My user name is 2patriots.
Thx much for the use of the pic and other research you've done!

What is the source of the photo you posted to the Maj. Gen? Is it really him? Great pic, I hope it is.

BDS Watkins and Jane Gordon were married in St. Clair Co., AL and their first children were born there and then they came to TX and some were born in TX.

We researched him for years before I found a land document that totally cleared up his name...we would find him as Berryman, Beriman, Benjamin, BDS, Berryman D. S. and such. Then I found him on a BLM land document that showed his name as "Benjamin Watkins"...then the "Benjamin" was marked through and "Berryman Dela Shumate" was written in. So, it cleared up that his first name was not Benjamin and really was Berryman and finally I knew his middle names were Dela Shumate!!

Thanks for your reply. I this is my husband's ancestor and it has been quite a few years since I worked on this line. So, when I did a few searches to see what was new "out there" on the internet is when I found the marriage in 1868 back in Virginia...I have in my records that he died between 1855 and 1860...I can't seem to find why I put 1855 (probably an event of some sort) and I couldn't find him in 1860 (usually means they died)...but to find someone fitting his description in VA for a marriage was really strange. So, I'm wondering now if he left his family in Shelby Co., TX and went back East and remarried...more research!! Thanks, Kay
