Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Redwood City, CA and raised in various parts of CA and TX and finally settled in a rural town, Mound House, NV. I'm retired from the State of Nevada and after three years of not really knowing what to do with my extra time I stumbled onto FindAGrave which lead me to our local cemetery. Now I'm in the process of adding 5,000 names to Findagrave for our cemetery. Part of this process is researching some of the names in hopes of finding obituaries on names being added. I also enjoy taking pictures of graves for families. I have a passion for working on genealogy and almost every day have another amazing discovery. My husband John and I enjoy traveling and it's my hopes to travel to various places to take my own pictures of family graves.

I appreciate help from all others who are trying to assist with improving the Lone Mountain Cemetery information. Please know that my information is coming directly from the cemetery records, then this is verified to the County web site and sometimes Ancestry.com before being added. I then walk the section just added to take photos of the grave as further confirmation. This is an ongoing process and links to family members and obits will be added AFTER I have completed the entire cemetery which will probably take a year or more to complete. I will make corrections to what I have added but would appreciate more volunteers adding names and taking pictures so we can complete this process. If you would like more information added, please let me know and I will be more than happy to transfer the memorial to you so you can add that additional information.

It is my hope that my submissions will help to connect someone with their loved ones.

I give my full permission for anyone to use my photos except for USGenweb since they informed me if I use any of their photos they would sue me.

You were correct. I spoke to the administrator at St. Ann's in Dayton. Roger was cremated and his body returned to NY for burial. I've corrected the memorial. Now to try to track him down there. Blessings!

I've sent a note to the rectory at St. Ann's in Dayton, where his funeral mass was held. Hopeful they can shed so e light on the burial. Once I hear back from them, I'll correct the post. Thanks!

He may simply be listed as Mr. Roger Porcella. You're right he might be buried in Dayton and not Carson City, although he was Administrator/Rector at the Catholic Church in Virgina City for awhile. I wish I had more information beyond his obituary. Roger was my Godfather.

Melinda, I was only bringing it to your attention, I said nothing about removing it. In my opinion, how you deal with a duplicate it your business. However, you can make corrections to the other person's memorial and even add a bio. I know that, for the most part, that other person is unresponsive and that can be very frustrating but I've had success by asking Find A Grave's edit team to make corrections to his memorials. But, I completely respect your position.

RE: Catholic Cemetery
OK. Sounds good. I thought that might be the case but I did one photo request on one family and the photo volunteer came back and said that there was no record of them even though all of their death certificates said they were there. I'll keep going with the assumption but if you ever find a reason for me to stop, just let me know. Thanks!

Lone Mountain Catholic Section
Picking your brain again. I have come across several death certificates that indicate that the people were buried in the "Catholic cemetery". Correct me if I wrong, but wouldn't that mean that they were buried in St. Theresa's and therefore are now actually buried at Lone Mountain since St. Theresa's was one of the cemeteries that were combined into Lone Mountain? Or was there another Catholic cemetery in Carson City in the early part of the 1900s? Also, would the cemetery office have the records of these burials? Any info you have would be appreciated. I want to be sure I haven't been adding people to Lone Mountain that I shouldn't have been.

That's all I needed! Thanks for the input. I appreciate you taking the time to look at it. I thought you might have some insights and you did. I'm deleting.

Melinda, can you do some detective work for me? I created this memorial based on the Carson City cemetery records:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=128342071

The records show that he died in 1899 and is buried in the plot with his father, Charles. However, I've been contacted by another member who has very compelling evidence showing that he actually died in 1940 in Los Angeles.

Do you think you could see what you can find out at the cemetery office? Is he really buried in the family plot? Does he have a tombstone that says anything helpful?

Please don't go out of your way, just next time you're in the area, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks, Suzy
