During the process of documenting the more than 9,000 graves at Lone Mountain Cemetery, it was discovered there are hundreds of graves with no headstone or marker. Funds are currently being raised through private donations to purchase headstones for these individuals. This project has been accepted as an approved project through the Foundation for Carson City Parks & Recreation (EIN 47-4750761) a 501(c)(3) organization. 100% of the funds raised will go to purchase headstones for those individuals buried at Lone Mountain Cemetery, Carson City, NV. Checks should be made payable to FCCPR and mailed to FCCPR, 112 N. Curry St., Carson City, NV 89703. You can also contact Melinda Cash at (775) 241-2198 or email@example.com.|
For those interested the oldest documented grave found so far is that of Frank Ness, born in 1827 and died in 1850, plot W1E-1-14. However, there are many undocumented graves that may be older.
Please know that my information is coming directly from the cemetery records, then this is verified to the County web site and sometimes Ancestry.com before being added. I then walk the section just added to take photos of the grave as further confirmation. As an added note, if the headstone is poorly made, most likely it will produce a poor picture. This is an ongoing process and links to family members and obits will be added AFTER I have completed the entire cemetery which will probably take a year or more to complete. Please use the edit functions to make corrections or add information. I am more than willing to transfer memorials so please let me know if you would like to manage the memorial.
For now I am adding the obits to the memorial in the picture section. It may look tacky, however, in the interest of time it is a placeholder until at some time I can go back and add it to the memorial. In some cases it is the only proof that the individual was in fact buried at Lone Mountain. Hundreds of graves are undocumented at Lone Mountain. There is no record of these individuals at the cemetery office or the county. It is my hopes to properly identify as many people as possible through whatever means I can so we can properly acknowledge these individuals, especially to connect loved ones. If you would like these obits put in the memorial, please let me know and I will transfer management of the memorial to you and you can retype as you wish.

Hi, The dated on the stone are DOB 1871 DOD 1919. Thee is mold or dirt on the 9 which makes it appear as a 3 but its a 9.

hehe - It's beautiful here. 80 and clear. Oh, I'm in Arizona.

Just send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org . Just include a simple note like, "Please merge these two duplicate memorials." And then include a copy/paste of the URLs of each memorial. That's it! Simple! :-)
|Alexandra Montgomery||Donald A Baker #93924740|
On your memorial it says Donald Baker has been disinterred from Lone Mountain, and I found his new grave over at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
So, I was wondering, do you want to change Don's memorial over to Walton's, or do you think the Lone Mountain memorial should be left as a cenotaph and a new one made to reflect the Walton's gravesite?
I have no idea whether he had a gravestone in Lone Mountain, but if he did I think it was probably left there and not moved to Walton's. His stone at Walton's is the circular kind that most of the graves have over there (like so: http://i.imgur.com/owGEzKb.jpg), so I imagine it was probably made anew when he was moved over there.
Anyway, just let me know what the dealio is with him, and I'll add my photo :-D. Also, here's his wife, if you want to link them:
I sent his obit via old-style correction.

You're welcome. I'm the part-time caretaker of the cemetery so I checked the records and she was listed as Jennie Eshelman Walls on the interment card. So I took a stroll down on this unusually warm December afternoon and took a pic for you.

No. The photo is wrong on Robert Mathew Cates who was born in 1914. The photo on the memorial is for his son, also Robert Mathew Cates, who was born in 1947.
