I have been doing this off and on for years, I just recently started being more adoment about it. I remember My great aunt Mina doing it when I was a lot younger.(back in the 50's & 60's) When we would go visit her it would be fun to see all the pics she had takin in her journey (while on vacation)around the country going to different places to do her research. She still doesn't use a computer except to store her data, she got all of her information the old fashion way by doing a lot of leg work. She is 84 now & told me awhile back she was so proud of me that someone was caring on with researching our family history. I mainly started doing this to trace my fathers side of the family like aunt Mina had on my mothers side. I guess you can say it is my life passion now to work on my ancesters on both sides of my family. |
The names I am working on are Magner, Woolley, Colegrove, Shields, Venn, Veatch, Stockton, Sells, Prough, Ragains, Jones
I do not have a home page right now but will be getting one soon.
If there is (FHR) in the notes I have posted, I got that information from Funeral Home records.If ther is (CR) I got the information from cementery records. If there are any mistakes, please let me know & I will make the corrections. I will gladly transfer any memorial.
While visiting cemeterys to get pics of my ancesters, I started taking pics of markers of our service men & women. I feel they all should be remembered in some way for helping to keep this a free country. I am also taking pics of unusual markers, as I journey through the cemeterys.
I have moved back to Okla.after almost 30 years, to be near my Sad who is 77, he just can not do like he used to. I lice in Creek County, west of Tulsa

Thanks for all the work you do for Find a Grave! I have a question I am hoping you can help us resolve. There are 2 records for Find A Grave Memorial for Ellis Shields that appear to be for the same person. Summum Cemetery # 45703482 and also Summum Sixteen Cemetery. Find A Grave Memorial# 38571902. The birth dates are the same, wife same, death dates are different by only 1 year. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Warm Regards, Jody.

Just wanted to give you a big thanks for taking the time to enter information about this small family cemetery where many of my relatives are buried.
|Patricia Fawn Carter- Ford-Cowdrey||Neal J Jones|
Dear Shirley: I found a notice in the paper for Neal J. Jones where is passed away November 13 2010. His memorial # 29446299 if you would like to add it on. He is in Jones Cemetery.
Put up two photos, was not sure about the sun when I took the photo. It is the habit of this cemetery to put the graves behind the headstones, it appears that there is a grave about a year old behind Earl, but they have not put a death date on the stone for him. There are a ton of Jones's in this cemetery.
Will take whatever photos you need.

I have asked his permission each time I've posted one of his photos and he has always said ok.
Go down to the bottom of the page and you will find an e-mail link. Feel free to ask the webmaster if he has given anyone permission to use his photos. If you're still not comfortable let me know and I'll be glad to take it down.

I'm not sure who takes care of this cemetery but I'll try to find out.
Take a look at your memorial to Samuel T. Lorenzo "Sam" Ragains. I did some repair work on the photo you posted.

I attempted to remove the rust stain from the Sylvia and Arthur Black stone. I did reduce the stain some but the rust has already etched the stone. I Neutralized the rust so unless someone replaces the rusty horseshoe it should not get worse. I left the horseshoe next to the marker so please let your family know if the put it back on the stone it will destroy it in a few years.

Hi Shirley: We have been traveling and just returned home. The 2 graves I created memorials for were Witters and Davis. They are not related to me and I would be happy to transfer them to you if you would send me your ID number.
