Bio Photo FIND A GRAVE IS A GREAT SITE! Margie has been doing family tree research for over FIFTY years - half a century! Her cemetery-loving mom, Doris (Kinkade) Shones, started taking her to cemeteries when she was 8 years old. Margie has spent several decades concentrating on Stickney, Kinkade, Franklin, and Beaver families.
********************************* We don't hold on to memorials of non-family members. If anyone is related (no matter how distant) OR are friends to any of our memorials posted at Washington Veteran's Home Cemetery in Retsil, send a suggestion and Margie will transfer them to you.

She has created over 800 biographies from their free online files at We have no relatives in this cemetery and want these veterans to be remembered for their service. Margie is a Navy and Air Force veteran; Bob served in the Army.
I will do my best to help make any memorial as complete as possible. There are several free online sources for researching Washington state residents, such as Ask A Librarian Washington (must be WA resident) and DigitalArchives.Wa.Gov - and Select Online newspapers. If I come across an obit when reading old papers, I will try and find that person at findagrave and send a correction; I am not usually related. I will cite the newspaper, date and page. There is also no need to ask permission for using any of my 2800+ grave photos - I consider them a public service and you can use them in your family history without crediting me. I also do not need credit for any obits as I always source the paper.

Happy Graving!

RE: Retsil Edits
Those minor mistakes are easy to make. Other then that you all have done a marvelous job with the memorials for this cemetery.

RE: Charles Williams marker inscription
I thought I had sent it, but I guess I messed up.There for deleting it. Anyway I can get another photo of his headstone if you would like. You can give me the memorial if you like, but I am not related t him. Just have time on my hands and I pass that cemetary daily, and just thought to stop and look around.

RE: WA Veterans Home Cem-Retsil
Thank you for the reply. I do not have anyone buried there, but as I past there I just wondered that if I did how would I locate them. I must say you have done a fantastic job and a great service to our veterans entombed there. But, like other cemetaries they are layed out with sections then grave numbers. I was just wondering if there was something of that sort, to make it easier to find for those of simple mind, such as myself. Sort of a grave yard style map? Thanks.
