Ancestors & relatives never really go away, they get buried, cremated or vaulted in a sacred place for us to visit and remember. After all, where would we be without our ancestors? As much as it hurts to lose a loved one, we must be thankful for the time we had together. These memorials in FIND A GRAVE are growing by a million a month and make it easier for the world to find & see the memorials of their loved ones. Through these memorials, they live on.
Passionate is an understatement, Genealogy & Cemeteries are a big part of my life. Have 35 years of sometimes obsessive research under my belt. I'm one of the very few volunteers for Madison County, NY which is 662 square miles with 285 Cemeteries and endless hills (up to 1800 ft) & valleys, so go easy on me folks.
Genealogically I picked up where my Grandfather and his father left off. I specialize in Madison County, NY and surrounding areas and Warren County, NY. If you find your relative in my memorials and would like transfers or to add bios, or corrections let me know. All my photos are free for distribution.

Though it feels like "good-bye", we know that in reality, for those of us who have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ it is merely, "see-you-later"

Taphophilia is a interest for and enjoyment of cemeteries. Taphophilia involves epitaphs, gravestone rubbing, photography, art, and history of deaths. The singular term is a taphophile.

Clarissa (Sanders) Chesebro
In case you'd like to add the death notice for Clarissa Chesebro at this site:

"Died of paralysis at her home on Hooker street, this village, Sunday morning, Sept. 6th, Mrs. Clarissa Chesebro, widow of the late Henry Chesebro. When Mrs. Chesebro returned Wednesday night, August 26th, she seemed to be in usual health, but about 1 o'clock complained of being ill and grew rapidly worse, until she became unconscious and it was soon discovered that she had suffered a slight shock of paralysis. From this she rapidly rallied and hopes were entertained for her recovery until Thursday Sept. 3d, when most unexpectedly the second shock came after which she never regained consciousness but lingered until Sunday morning about 9 o'clock when the end came. Mrs. Chesebro was born in Hamilton, Feb. 20, 1833, having lived in this vicinity for the last twenty seven years. She was a kind and patient mother and a faithful friend. She was naturally retiring and unassuming, and those to whom she was dear realize that they have sustained a heavy loss. The funeral was held at her late residence at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Chesebro is survived by four children, George of Gloversville, Mrs. Raymond Landon of Hubbardsville, Mrs. Scott Williams of Sangerfield and Louise of Waterville." Eaton Farm Cemetery
Hi Andrew,
You thankfully created a memorial for a Judson Jerritt Mace at Eaton Farm Cemetery in 2009. From the information you recorded, I think there must be a stone there. Would it be possible for you to take a picture of the stone or do you know of anyone that can take the picture and either post it at findagrave or send it to me (and I'll post it). I did request a photo at findagrave, but the other 2 requests were from 2010 and haven't been fulfilled. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. My member number: #47226446 under Rebecca Ott
Thank you!!!!!!

RE: Samuel Billington
Hi Andrew,

It looks like spring might be delayed this year! But I'll check back to see if you've found a stone for Samuel. Thanks.

Waterville Cemetery burials
I am looking for burial information on several people who died in Waterville. My 2x great grandfather lived in Waterville. Two of his children are buried there: Clara Amelia Harwood died 31 December 1862 at 7 months 26 days old and Hatley Harwood died sometime around the same time. Mary Ann Welford, my 3x great grandmother, died 15 December 1879 at age 75. Her husband could be buried near her. I don't know his name only last name Welford. William's sister Hannah Gurr died 28 December 1927. Her husband John Gurr was buried 29 May 1892. Their daughter Marietta Julia Gurr died 1 June 1919.

Would it be possible for you to add memorials for these people? If not, do you know of a contact at the cemetery who could help me find missing information? Thanks for any help.

Sarah Matteson
Thank you so much for taking the photos at Welsh Church Union Cemetery in Nelson, NY for the Matteson family. The stones for George, Clarissa and Sophronia are wonderfully preserved. The photo for Sarah not so much. Can you read the dates on Sarah's tombstone? I've fooled around with the contrast, but I just can't pick up on the dates. She is my husband's ancestor.
