Jacob & Isabella Byerly
Thanks very much for that correction, Kim.
I do appreciate it.

Now, did you ever come across a "Bessie Byerly" buried at Byerly Cemetery?

The first five of Jacob & Belle's eight children were born at Bridgewater, VA, and their last three children were born after they moved to Butler Co. KS.

Bessie (#4) was born in VA in 1873 and died in infancy. I have never been able to locate her burial, but highly suspect it may be in Byerly Cemetery, since her grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. are there.

Sincerely, Elizabeth

Jacob Byerly (43007369)
Hey Kim, just another thought....

The confusion with these two Jacobs may stem from the middle names...

My great-great grandfather Jacob Byerly (33591248 @ Brownlow Cemetery, Butler Co KS) is listed as "Jacob PETER" on the 1867 Rockingham Co marriage license with Isabella Thuma.

The Jacob you added at Byerly Cemetery (1816-1892) is always listed only as "JACOB" in any of the records I have found to this point.

Interested in your thoughts on this...
Thanks again, Elizabeth

Hi Kim,
The Jacob Peter Byerly (1816-1892) buried at Byerly Cemetery was not married to Isabel Thuma.

Isabella Thuma (1846-1885)was married to the Jacob Byerly (1843-1884)(33591248) buried at Brownlow Cemetery in Butler Co KS. They are my great-great grandparents.

I have a marriage license for both Jacobs.

I believe the elder Jacob was my Jacob's uncle.
The 1850 Rockingham Co Census 56th District shows 2 Jacobs. One, age 34, married to Margaret with 2 young daughters.
The younger Jacob, age 7, with his parents and 8 siblings.

I have enjoyed viewing the photos & info you have added for the Byerly Cemetery, and hope very much to visit it someday!
Thank you very much for your time & effort.

Sorry Kim,
I don't know where I came up with this one. It does look like Mertz, is that March in German. I must have been looking at an old picture I took since mine is not on your memorial. Trying to get through all the pictures I have stored. Thanks for checking. Sheila
