Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm new to genealogy having started in 2010. I decided to pick up where my Aunt Shirley has left off. She's done a great deal work over the years the old fashion way by mailing letters and traveling.
I have the luxury of a computer which has aided me tremendously in further research.

I'm researching my family for surnames of Paul, LaBar, Nichols, Bertalot, Carr, Studer, Andrews and Skinner. Most of them settled in the Wisconsin and Illinois area.

I am also researching my husbands family for the surnames of Grammer, Light, Crowell, Hiller, Bigley and Kile.

Fred Paul
Paulina Paul relative
Hi Nancy,
My name is Fred Paul and I'm a grandson of Paulina Paul. My dad (Fred, Sr.) was born in 1891 just a few years before his mom died. I know very little of my dad's history and just became interested in finding out more when I came across this site. I'd love to know more about the Paul and Studer family tree if you would be willing to share.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Douglas Hitchcock, Find A Grave Memorial# 116601422, is not buried in Spanaway. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered in a stream in a local park by his family, as directed by his will.

RE: Photo for George LaBar
I think it might be the metal marker they use for vets--if that helps.

PS--If you want, the next time I am in Waupaca, I can check the family death records and see if any other La Bars are buried there.

Doris Bertalot Peters
Yes, it was a very sad story. Especially since William's first wife died early, so he was looking for a mother to his daughter.

You know, Nancy, I've tried and tried to find something about her and can't. I've looked at websites that have records of crimes in Chicago from that era and found nothing. I've looked for her in Ancestry & LDS and found no date of death. I would assume she was incarcerated in a jail or mental institute and died there. But where? Beats me! If I ever find out, I'll let you know.

RE: William Bertalot
Hi, Nancy. I use Find a Grave as a place to tell my many families' stories. Unfortunately, this was a sad one. No, I am not related to the Bertalots; William Peters was my great uncle. My poor great grandmother suffered through the loss of her young adult daughter dying in her arms and then the horrible murder of her son.

Do you have more information on Doris?
