BEATITUDES OF THE FAMILY GENEALOGIST|
Blessed are the great grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, for they tell the story of their time.
Blessed are all the grandfathers who filed every legal document, for this provides proof.
Blessed are grandmothers who preserve family Bibles and diaries, for this is our heritage.
Blessed are father who elect officials that answer letter of inquiry, for some, this is their only link to the past.
Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, for one of her children will surely remember.
Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, for them we owe the family history.
Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, for theirs is a labour of love.
Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."

|N. Duke||Amanda Suttle Pratt|
Hello Shirley! Thank you for all you have done with your research and documentation. I didn't see anything about using your pictures, but I wonder if I may use the picture of Amanda Pratt's headstone? I've never known where she is buried. She and her husband, R.H. Pratt, are some of my great.....aunts and uncles.

|Mark Hadley||Man in photo not Henry M Scott|
I have been told by others, and it makes sense, that the man in the photo is not Henry Montague Scott. It is Henry's widow, Elizabeth Burns Scott with her 2nd husband, John Sikes. They married in Franklin Parish, but the marriage license got filed in another place other than the marriage book, that's why it was so hard to find (but I have a copy). The clothing and photography look to be 1870s or so, not 1850s. My late cousin Lucille Scott Sullivan also believed the man in the photo to be Henry, but she also had Henry living until 1899, which he did not. Please look into this, and I can look up the marriage license for you.

I really enjoyed your Beatitudes. May I have permission to copy it and share on a Family Facebook Group called - Conecuh John Green? This is a private group.
