Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been one of my family's "historians" for over 10 years, researching our family trees, and I totally enjoy it.

Taking photographs of headstones and submitting cemetery information is such vital work, because it helps people locate their loved ones. The headstone photograph helps to document it, since many times these precious artifacts are vandalized or damaged by weather and age. I find great joy in helping others find their family members.

I have been in process of transcribing all the cemeteries in Jim Wells County, TX since 2004. Every so often, I'll do some in San Patricio and Nueces Counties.

Please note that I photograph & transcribe entire cemeteries & do not catch duplicates until I'm ready to upload photos. So if you spot a duplicate, then click the "Edit" button at the memorial & let me know about it. Thanks!

Please click the "Edit" button at the memorial to notify me of any corrections, additions, adding relationship links or to request transfers. This process will work quicker & better than emailing me or leaving a message here

I love uniting the memorials I've created with their family.

RE: Gonzales
Thanks anyway. It was worth a try that you had already photographed the cemetery. If you happen to come across them as you photograph your cemeteries, will you keep me in mind?

I am wondering if you have run across Leonides Gonzales and his wife Genoveva Guerra Gonzales in any of the cemeteries in or around Premont. His death certificate shows he is buried in Premont, Texas on November 23 or 25, 1933. I wasn't clear if Premont is the city or cemetery. He died on November 22 in Edinburgh, Hildalgo County. His birth date is April 11, 1890. I haven't been able to find anything on his wife except she was born between 1892-1894 in Mexico and immigrated a year after her birth. She is in the 1940 census in Edinburg, Hildalgo County. According to her son's obit, she died in 1943. If you run across them, I would love to connect them to their son's, Luiz L. Gonzales, memorial.

Thanks for any help you might find.

Alma Mae Watson Morgan
It was so kind of you to transfer my cousin, Alma, to me. Also you went to the extra trouble of linking her to her parents before the transfer, and your extra work is appreciated. Alma is the last of my grandfather Watson's neices and nephews to be linked to the rest of the Watson family, and I feel like a long journey has been completed! I have her obituary that I can add. Since the Watsons originated in Delta County, it was most odd to find Alma buried here in the same cemetery that my great aunt and uncle, Caroline and Frank Cox, who grew up in Ohio, are buried in! The two families never knew each other. Anyway, thank you very much!

Thank You,

How I do appreciate your kindness for the transfer of John Wade and his wife, Sarah Benyon Ward, who were the great grandparents of my aunt Virginia Newberry Dickinson. There are children and great grandchildren who cherish the memory of their Ancestors.

Your service to others through your dedication and many hours of taking pictures to create a fitting memorial is most outstanding. It is a work of love that you give through your Find A Grave activity.

Loved ones live on through Monuments which tell a brief history of a persons life. The beautiful Monument and the impressive verse
inscribed on that of John Wade will stand as a testament to one who was dearly loved.

Thank you so much for the transfer of the Memorials, done so promptly, too.

SPJST Cemetery
Thanks for moving your memorials. I have been working on the Shiner Cemeteries for a while. I found it pretty confusing when I started until I located Sammy Tise's books. He worked for about 20 years to identify all the Lavaca County Cemeteries and he really clarified that grouping of four cemeteries out on County road 348.

SPJST stands for "Slovanska Podporujici Jednota Statu Texas". A rough translation is "Slavonic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas". I think of it as a Slovanic (Czech?) Society similar to the German Sons of Herman Society.

Thanks, James

RE: Sallie Peeks
I just checked Sallie's memorial and I like the way you entered the info. I just ran across a family group sheet that was sent to my years ago before computers and it lists Sarah Ann as A.J. S and Mary Jane Sowders as her parents. Shows her as married to a James W. Peaks. (Spelling different but we know that happens a lot)
So I feel confident the A.J. is the father.
It seems the whole Eutaw cemetery is filled with my relatives! A.J. had a total of 13 children!
Thank you for your efforts. I appreciate it.

James and Artie Cates
Thanks for the information for James and Artie. I have updated their memorials. I have family links to most of the people in this cemetery. My 2nd great grand uncle donated the land for the cemetery. I haven't found the link to James and Artie yet. If I do, I'll let you know. Take care and thanks for all you to do improve the information on this site. It has provided me many treasures. Bless you! =0)
