Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am an electrical engineer by profession. My interests include American History, specifically the Civil War (and more specifically the Battle of Gettysburg). I also have an avid interest in the american space program, as well as classic movies. All of these interests include a whole host of folks with memorials in findagrave - hence my interest in this site. I live in northeastern Wisconsin, and travel much of the State - and certainly willing to hunt down photographs either near home, or in my travels.

Scott, I don't know if Winfield was named after the general or if it is just a family name. Thats a good question though. Winfield died in the same area and someone did a find a grave memorial for him. He is buried at the same cemetery so it was just a guess that he would be by the family. I know snow comes early to Wisconsin and has a way of sticking around so if you can't get out this season I totally get it. Thank you for all of your help.

Thank you for taking the picture for his memorial. I now know the name of his wife. I have a family photo but was not sure I had her name correct. Also thank you for the picture of the family around the tree, it looks great. I am assuming it is Winfields grave along with his wife. I am just uncovering who my grandfather and his family really were. Thank you again, Mary Greely Melville

RE: August (Unknown)
Thanks so much, Scott.

It's amazing how a simple photo request can lead to another clue back in history past. I'm certainly glad you don't mind helping, if needed, as I may call on you again in the future.

Gratefully yours,
Cindy

RE: August (Unknown)
Scott,

Autust and Frieda are definintely my ancestors. I typed the dates incorrectly for Frieda. Sorry about that. The dates you have are correct and match my records.

I have not heard of Raymond or Viola. I wonder the connection, if any, to August and Freida? I feel sure there is one, and that I just haven't connected the dots yet. It's been a bit difficult researching the Bellin side as August's father was from Germany.

I will check out the cemetary and the Bellins who are buried there. Now, with Raymond and Viola, I have another lead to follow and possibly find a connection.

Thank you so much for all your help. I very much appreciate it and will definitely let you know if I any additional information.

Again, many thanks!
Cindy

RE: August (Unknown)
Scott,

I am almost sure some of them are ancestors. My grandfather's father was August J. Bellin, born 1877, died 1961. August's wife was Freida Rose Selig, born 1899, died 1986. From what I can find so far, August's (br. 1877) father was also named August and was born in Germany. My grandfather, Edwin Bellin was August J. Bellin's son. He was born in Appleton, but died in Orange County, Florida and is buried there.

If you could take photos of any Bellin graves at your convenience, I may be able to match them with my tree and fill in some spaces.

Thank you so much for our help. I very much appreciate it.

RE: August (Unknown)
Hi Scott,

I had hoped it would be; however, the August I am searching for is August Bellin, 1877 - 1961. I believe he was from Germany and he would be my great-grandfather. Guess the search goes on.

Thank you so much, however, for the extra time and effort you put into locate the name and information. At least I now know this is not my August Bellin.

Again, my sincere thanks!

Cindy
