Bio Photo Hello,my name is Susan. I am a former teacher, mother of 4 and Nana to 10 beautiful grandchildren. I have always been passionate about my faith, family, animals, history and genealogy. A New Englander by birth, I now reside on the Maine coast. My wonderful husband was a career AIR FORCE man and we traveled much of the world. I LOVE America and have the deepest respect and honor for our men and women who serve our country, both now and in days long ago. As a Christian, I KNOW that death is not the end...but a beginning for those who have loved The Lord. I thank you in advance for visiting my loved ones, I truly appreciate your visits.

PLEASE stop by my Virtual Cemetery; "Celia's Precious Girls." These three beautiful little girls were killed in a car crash. You will fall in love with them as I have.

RE: Balcums
Hi, Susan, and thanks for your request. I will transfer them to you.

Redfield and much of the surrounding area abounds with my husband's family, and he was related to virtually everyone in the Redfield Cemetery. That is also where his ashes rest. The living family members, including his son, all follow the research he and his mom and aunt did, and which I continue. The memorials to be transferred are related through a 3rd great-aunt so are closer to your husband.

Are you familiar with the Redfield area? I am hoping to squeeze in another trip there before the weather cools down. I can see why people who settled there have generations of descendants who still live there.

RE: Edward's pages
Thanks! -- I know the Newcastle Historical Soc. folks had a document on Edward but the link no longer works... one way or another I'll reach them; I'll let you know what I find.

Since my great-grandfather was apparently somewhere on that same battlefield with a RI artillery unit, and since I can't figure out how on earth he met (and married) Edward's niece -- an old-line Providence Quaker marrying the daughter of a French immigrant shoemaker from Newcastle -- it is very tempting to imagine some scenario by which Charles Dyer encounters a wounded Edward, and there's a classic "Please tell my family..." exchange. That's one way, at least, that a Dyer and a Gazet sister's daughter _might_ have come into contact.

Of course the truth may be simpler and less romantic... but I love the imaginary storyline...

Cheers, Christopher

Edward's pages
Hi, Susan,

Here's Edward:

I'm new to the findagrave system -- you've been so attentive to Edward and left so many nice notes and pictures that I assumed you were sponsoring him.

Clicking directly on the soldier photo you apparently added (not sure if that's Edward, or just a generic Civil War soldier pic), I get the photo with this caption:

Edward K. Gazet,b. May 13,1839, Newcastle,Maine to Joseph & Mary (Brookings) Gazet. Ed was the youngest of eight children. He was wounded at the Battle of Williamsburg on May 5,1862 and died ten days later. Ed served with the 11th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment,Co.A. Edward wrote many letters & poetry some of which still survive today and are complied in a book about him.

That's why I hoped you knew where to find the book.

I'm also trying to reach the Newcastle, ME, Historical Society to see if they can help (the Gazet family lived in Newcastle around 1850-1860).

Thanks for any information you are able to add.

Best, Christopher

Edward Kavanagh Gazet

I'm a great-great-great nephew of Edward Kavanagh Gazet and I appreciate your sponsoring his page on findagrave.

Your note mentions a book that was compiled of his poetry and letters -- can you tell me how to find a copy? I'd love to see it.

BTW when using FamilySearch to find information about him, for some reason the year of his death came up as 1882 rather than 1862, so at first (because I'd specified 1862) I couldn't locate the findagrave record. Can that be corrected -- so others can find his information more easily?

Thanks for looking after Edward.

Best, Christopher

Snookie Riccio
Thank you so much for the beautiful token and kind words you left on Snookie Riccio. She was such an amazing dog and I miss her daily. I would love to see a picture of Zoe, I can't even imagine how cute a Shitzu/Bichon Frise mix would be! I hope its MANY years from now that Zoe & Nookers get to meet on the Rainbow Bridge. Thanks again...Anna

RE: Good News!!!
Hi Susan,

I'm so happy to hear that you don't need surgery! Thank you God :) I will pray for your pain to ease. I'm sorry that you too are having health difficulties.
I was at the hospital today 7/14 and it appears that I either have an autoimmune disease or a neurological problem. They aren't sure which, and testing will take a while, so I will try to manage the symptoms as best as I can and live my life. I have engagements at the end of July and in mid-August, so I'm praying that it won't affect that too much.
Thank you for your prayers, it really means a lot to me. I also know that prayers work. Even if we don't get what we want, it's all in His beautiful plan.

Lots of love,
Your friend Zina

Thank you Susan!
Hi Susan,

Thank you for sponsoring Iris Klaassens today, as well as Rosanne van der Donk, Mylee Scapanski, Emery Rudd, Audrey Dean, and precious Hansol Kang in the past weeks. I am so humbled by your kind and generous gestures. You are doing FG a wonderful service by sponsoring these kids. It really makes my day seeing my memorials being sponsored, especially the Sewol kids. I would sponsor them all if I could, but I only have so much to spare.
I hope you have a beautiful week ahead of you.

God bless,
