Bio Photo I created the Find A Grave website because I could not find an existing site that catered to my hobby of visiting the graves of famous people. Much to my surprise, I found that there were many thousands of folks from around the world that shared my interests. Seeing Find A Grave grow and grow beyond my wildest expectations has been one of the great joys of my life.

I was born in Alma, Michigan but spent most of my youth in Denver, Colorado. I attended Grinnell College in Iowa and earned a BA in music. I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I enjoy playing and writing music, reading, table tennis, foosball and disc-golf (the macho sports).

Error Loading Photos -- Repeated
Morning!

Sir:

I've tried to load photos to 3 memorials i created yesterday (5-19-'13)and repeatedly received your "train wreck" message.

"Can't open new photo file for writing... Error..."

What you really need is a "Report an Operational, Software, or System Problem" button or link so this information doesn't clog up your and your associates mail boxes.

My great grandmother
Hi Jim,

First off . . . I want to say what a great site Find A Grave truly is and thank you. It is THE ONLY SITE I post my family information on!!

I know you and your staff are busy people but I have contacted "info@findagrave.com" several times with no reply. After discovering something yesterday, I'm now quite upset. This concerns my great grandmother, Honor L. Harmon Pilkinton (#65453219). She died and is buried @ Nevada, MO in the cemetery on the grounds of the old State Hospital #3. Honor's first husband was my great grandfather, William Robert Williams and their son, Robert Pearl Williams was my grandfather. I have Robert's death certificate which states her name and I traced her back to the correct family. I have ask that her memorial be transferred to me, actually was promised that it would be but this has never come about. It seems now that I've upset the person who posted her original info (just name, dates & stone) because I found that this person "deleted the short bio" I sent to her some months ago. I don't understand why, as this person is not related in any way to Honor (she has told me this). She has done quite a bit of searching at that old cemetery for others too. In fact many of the gravestone had sunk into the ground so she had to do a bit of digging. I certainly appreciate her efforts too. All I'm asking of her is that she transfer so that I can again add a bio for my great grandmother as I have for my other ancestors. If you look through my other bios, you will see that I make what I feel is a pretty darn good effort to add as much info as possible to each memorial page plus photos, etc if I have them, because as I said . . . I DO NOT POST to any other site.

I hope this problem can be resolved. Thanks so much.

Duplicat memorials
Hi Jim,
How do I go about having a duplicate memorial deleted or merged? I have memorial for a family member which was transferred to me by a non family member. And now I found out that another person has a memorial for the same person and that was set up by her. She wants me to transfer my memorial to her to get it deleted or merged but I don't really trust her to transfer the memorial back to me. What can be done in this case? Her memorial ID is Always with Love and #46539192

Pop up ads
This is totally annoying and gets in the way. I've had this UPS add keep popping up delaying editing and adding memorials. This also happens with other advertising. How can Find A Grave contributors work with these delays and annoyances. We are volunteers and are not getting paid for your advertising, get it over to the side of the screen where it belongs and you still get paid and we can contribute without the annoying delays!

I'm having a terrible time trying to work on my memorials with ads popping up and stopping my progress. The entire commercial plays out before they allow you to close. This is happening mainly on my iPad, and it is UPS who is currently running the ads. Will you please resolve this issue?

My public name is Osiris #47272171. I thought long and hard before contacting you, but decided to do so because I'm having a problem here that I shouldn't be having at all. Last month I discovered that on one of my memorials the button to upload photos had been disabled. I contacted Mark, and he quickly corrected the problem; at this point there was no problem with any of the other memorials. However, on Mother's day, as I attempted to upload new photos of my mom, I realized that the button to upload photos on her memorial had been disabled (her memorial has been sponsored so I should be able to upload up to 20 photos). I then checked my other memorials and found that on the memorial of one of my aunts the upload photo button had been disabled as well, and her memorial has no photos at all!!! And I can assure you this was done to me shortly before Mother's day. The memorials in question are #67545887 (Alicia Maldonado de Vega, Mother) and #68141642 (Angela Marcano, Aunt.)

I find this to be particularly cruel considering that it was done right before mother's day. I lost my eldest son recently, so I'm really going through a very tough and difficult time. These memorials mean the world to me, because I cannot visit my relatives graves and this is the only way I can honor the memory of my loved ones, which is the case for a lot of F.A.G. contributors.

I might not be a huge contributor as far as sponsorships, or amount of memorials, but I do visit a lot of members and try to give them a word of comfort for the loss of their loved ones. Thus I consider myself to be a good member and contributor to this wonderful site. I feel I'm being singled out by someone and cannot understand why.

So, sweetie, I'm kindly requesting for you to look into this matter at your earlier convenience. I don't want to sound melodramatic here, but this situation is really causing me a lot of emotional distress and discomfort in addition to the recent loss of my child, and I don't really need nor deserve this. F.A.G has provided me with the joy and opportunity to feel close to my dearly departed, and have also been able to make very good friends here. However, these days I have been feeling targeted and not among friends anymore. Please help!!!
