I signed up to take photo requests in Whiteside County, ILLINOIS but caught the bug to dig further into my own family. Having a great time doing it which means I am coming back to Winnebago County frequently to revisit my childhood and capture my roots. Check out my virtual cemeteries and if you have any info, shoot me a line. Happy Linking!
I'm also a cemetery walker. The majority of my memorials are a result of walking the cemetery, and taking photos. More recently I have been adding obituaries and/or government documents to support the memorial, AND of course, the cemetery sexton is a valuable resource. Should you have any questions or find errors, please bring them to my attention so I can correct them. In requesting a transfer, just indicate the relationship. I do transfer!

Remembering F.A.G. colleague, Ellen Kennedy. I did not know Ellen personally but have seen her presence on many memorials in our local area. May God hold her and her family in the palm of his hand. Ellen Kennedy

I just learned that my cousin passed away on January 3, 2013 at the age of 61. We had just found each other a year ago when I messaged him one late night after repeatedly seeing STEAMERFAN on all of my relatives memorials. Well, I learned that we share the same great-great-grandparents. I am so sorry I was not ever able to meet him in person but so glad we did meet up through F.A.G. Since being a member, he added 16,951 memorials. Thank you Gary for all of your contributions here!!!! We will all miss you ~ I will miss you! ღ Gary Boomgaarden

Doing this for over a year, I have learned a lot, lessons from both the good (that is you Carrie) and "not so good" (to remain nameless) F.A.G. contributors, and I thank you all! I especially want to take this opportunity to thank several who have helped show me the ropes in the beginning. First is Loren Carlson, who is not only from my home town, but has created many of the memorials for my relatives and has graciously transferred them to me when requested, starting with my brother's memorial. Thank you Loren for answering all of my questions. Second is Steamerfan. I remember being up late in the night corresponding with him when I discovered we shared the same great-great-grandparents. He has also been a great resource (and pointed me the right direction) for family history on my dad's side. Thank you Gary Boomgaarden with two AA's. And thank you D. Frederick Birely for teaching me to make my memorials more in depth than just slapping up names and dates. I have learned from you, and continue to learn. Thank you Dale!
Happy SPRING 2013!

 | RE: Gravesite of Frank Melvin Thanks, Connie Lou. Now if I could only figure out who Mary is. You wouldn't have access to any information about her, would you? As for contact info for my first cousin, Ross. I would be happy to give you the contact information so your friend might be able to get in touch with him but hesitate to provide it in a public message. Is there another way I might be able to get it to you? Sally | | | Rob
 | RE: George Weller in Riverside This is just TOO COOL!!! Thank you so very much, Connie!!!!
I actually know very little about George (my Great (x3) Grandfather; what you've done is opened up a new case that just HAS to be explored and answered You know how us genealogists are: like a cat chasing a laser pointer! I had no idea who Christina is; the only reference to a wife that I had previously was a Rachel Faust (no more info than that). So, this is a good, solid lead! If you have any leads about who these folks are, it would be most appreciated!
I like to fulfill photo requests myself; it makes it SO much easier when people add the burial plot! Also, I will add memorials for the others and submit requests!
Again, my SINCERE THANKS!!!

 | Gravesite of Frank Melvin Thanks for the recent photos of the Melvin mausoleum in Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. My brother, who lives in Dixon, and I are the only ones with access to the mausoleum, and I am assuming the caretakers at the cemetery are aware that we have a key. Your picture was a wake-up call to me (down here in Naples, FL) that the "Little House on the Prairie", as the structure has been affectionately called for years, is in need of some upkeep. Thanks so much. Now, can you tell me what the numbers following the names of those lying within mean? Thanks for the good work you do! | | | Donna Lung
 | Burkholder Thanks Connie Lou for going back and finding both Maria and Elias' monuments. I really appreciate it. Donna | | | Donna Lung
 | Maria Burkholder - Riverside Cemetery Hi Connie Lou - Maria (Blair) Burkholder (1/22/1830-12/6/1913) was married to Elias G Burkholder (6/16/1824-3/12/1907) also buried at Riverside #65086015. Neither has a monument picture on their memorial. I know how difficult this can be. Thanks for working on the Burkholder family for us. My mother-in-law is a Burkholder. Donna | | | Donna Lung
 | Christian Burkholder Thank you for the picture and for your wonderful thoughts and appreciation for others on your page. | | | J. Scott Grimes
 | RE: Shepherds in Riverside Hello Connie Lou,
Thank you so much for your generous effort on my behalf in photographing the gravestone of Simeon & Polly (Eddy) Shepherd. It easily moved me to sponsor both memorials.
These were my 4th-gr. grandparents. Rather than editing their memorial pages, I've included key references in my note attached to flowers left today. Your photo has resolved a long standing conflict, and I'm really very grateful.
Yours very sincerely, Scott Grimes | | | Vicki

 | Photos Hi Connie, thank you very much for taking the photo of Lynn and Mary McKee's headstone. And thank you for showing how their headstone is next to their son's wife (his name also on). I did not know she was buried there. Thank you, VickiAdded by Vicki on Jun 07, 2013 6:13 PM | | | CMiller
 | Re: Kenneth Truedson Hi Connie, thanks for the latest Truedson photo!. That is really strange how either they / someone in the family decided not to include individual names. I'll have to see if my Mom knows anything about it.
Also - you can transfer to me the listing for Charles & Anna Truedson (memorial# 108515157) if you like. Thanks to that memorial record I was able to link to a group of Truedsons over in the Quad Cities... the dates on the stone match the Swedish birth records I have of my gg-grandfather's youngest brother Carl (aka Charles)... now I need to verify his wife Anna. (^_^)
