 | Elijah Goodnight Hi, Does anyone have proof Elijah Goodnight served in the 1846-1848 Mexican War? I have not been able to find him on the service rolls or pension records. He was a Texas Ranger and can prove that. I have seen the two articles on him (Cameron herald and Waco News Tribune). I'm wondering where the info. came from for these newspaper articles. Thanks, Liz Hicks, Genealogy Editor, GTHS (German Texan Heritage Society) | | | sr/ks
 | just re-sent the note... as a "suggest a correction" for Braden, so you'll see it when you check your box :-)Added by sr/ks on Aug 20, 2011 10:01 AM | | | sr/ks
 | RE: errr, an awkward question Thanks for understanding the awkwardness. I did recall our conversation about your folks, but I know sadly things can change... I actually worried about this on Mother's Day but finally got up the guts to ask and be sure. The new gang to organize the next Romberger reunion will probably be meeting soon, and local folks in particular are needed. Might you be interested? Hope you and your crew are having a lovely 4th :-)Added by sr/ks on Jul 04, 2011 10:05 AM | | | sr/ks
 | errr, an awkward question With it being Father's Day tomorrow, I wanted to make sure I did not miss the chance to honor your dad, when I realized a) I did not know if he's still with us or not and b) I wouldn't be able to pick him out of your list if he is. Any guidance?
Also... I just noticed your dad's side has Mentzers. My great grandpa's first business parter was a Dauphin Cty Mentzer, Samuel, from Harrisburg. I have a memorial for him. Is he your clan?Added by sr/ks on Jun 18, 2011 7:23 PM | | | sr/ks
 | RE: Aunt Clara If no one's told you lately, you're very cool. Thank you very much for your kind offer (maybe later if I can get George's place nailed down) and for Clara and Ed's stone pictures, heaven knows if I'd have ever gotten them myself. I tried to imagine your day there, and realized you'd have snapped Braden's as well, so I went to check... and so you had, plus it's his birthday tomorrow, so excellent timing. Hope you and yours have a good Easter.Added by sr/ks on Apr 16, 2011 12:21 PM | | | Catherine (Prophit) Demers

 | PS In the same cemetery as Braden is my great great Aunt Clara, my great grandpa's sister who died with no descendants. If you ever get the chance to leave her flowers online, thank you. If ever you actually get to the cemetery and take pics of her grave and that of her husband Ed Harner, please let me know by leaving me a note on my page, because I keep meaning to get out there and do this, but with a sick mom, it keeps not happening. Thanks.Added by sr/ks on Oct 13, 2009 1:05 PM | | | sr/ks
 | RE: Hello Michelle Hi Michelle-
Thanks for your reply. "Maintaining" a memorial just means it's yours to with as you like. If in addition to the obituary I have on there for Braden, you would want to add any personal memories or pictures, you can.
I have added many Rombergers because they are of my dad's family's origins, but some are more distant, like Braden. I have added them just to try to make it easier for other Rombergers to connect family if they want to in the future. I did not know Braden, that is why I'd much prefer to transfer his memorial to a family member like you. So, I'm transferring it now- my name will always show on the memorial as "created by" but yours will show as "maintained by" and it will show up as one of your memorials. Take good care, of yourself, and of Braden's memorial :-)Added by sr/ks on Oct 13, 2009 12:52 PM | | | | [View all messages...] |
