Thank you again to all who continue to visit my angel momma and other memorials. Your thoughtfulness is always appreciated.

If you have time, this Memorial Day, please visit my step son's Fallen Battalion Brothers of the 3/25th Marines who lost their lives in Iraq in 2005. (Virtual Cemetery 10) My step son is being re-deployed this summer. Please keep him in your prayers.

May each of you be abundantly blessed!! XOXO

~~ Dear Ancestor ~~
Your tombstone stands among the rest, neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out on polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care; it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist; You died, and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you: in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

McPhaul in Gadsden County, FL
Hello Kathy, I'm researching information on my paternal Great Great Grandmother Matilda "Tildie" McPhaul and I'm most interested in any information you may have on the McPhauls living in Gadsden County ~1840-1880. She (or her relatives) may have arrived in FL when a group of McPhauls migrated from NC. You may respond to me privately. ~Thank you, Lori

Kathy I just posted a picture for Rosie Miles. I was able to get a picture for Samuel D Miles. Would you want to add a memorial page for Samuel? Thank you, Judy

Kathy, I also had sent you a 1860 census report that you could just copy and past into his bio. It list Catherine and I think all of the children. Would be helpful to have that on his bio. Blessings!!

I found him! He's with his wife at Dothan Cemetery. I sent Robin an SAC to let her know. I told her that I bet Clayton was laughing at the three of us. :D

Thank you for the kind words and the "wild goose chase". Sometimes I enjoy chasing geese. :D

You're welcome. But if Just Plain Nosy says he's not there...then I'd say he's not there. Let me know if you learn anything.

Hi Kathy,

I added his dc and his obit, both which say he's buried at Carolina Presbyterian Cemetery. He still could have been buried elsewhere though but that's all I have to go on.

RE: Clayton Smith
It wasn't a wild goose chase. It was a great excuse for me to go back there and try and take better photos to replace the bad ones I posted in 2007 and 2008. (I didn't succeed with all of them, but at least I tried. Ha!)

I **think** I got photos of every stone there but it is very possible (and likely) that I accidentally missed somebody.

Thanks! :)

RE: Sue Anderson "Tudy" Van Ness
No, I am not kin -- I have a long-term project of updating the info in Section 18 at Arlington, since most of the interments there are WWI casualties or veterans. Some others, like Mrs. Van Ness, just happen to be buried there.
