I'm a preservationist and historian descended from many generations in Texas.|
I was so happy to find some "lost" ancestors through Find A Grave. I joined the Find A Grave community as a volunteer, to help other people find where their ancestors and loved ones are buried, and to see photographs of markers in cemeteries they will never be able to visit personally. So many wonderful, dedicated people have volunteered time and money to make this website a success. I am disappointed it is now owned by a for-profit company, using the time and efforts of numerous volunteers.
Please give credit to the volunteers who have created memorials, and ask permission to use photographs. I will be happy to add information to memorials, with proper documentation, and to transfer memorials, following the guidelines of Find A Grave.
NOTE: ancestry.com now allows anyone to make changes to a memorial, without the consent or knowledge of the person who created the memorial, thus destroying the integrity of carefully researched and documented memorials. PLEASE VERIFY ALL INFORMATION WITH YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

|Just Plain Nosy||Re: Col. Archibald McEachin|
I've added the obit to the memorial and corrected his death year to 1837.
Thank you Sharon for transferring my great grandfather's memorial to me to manage.

I am looking for the COMPLETE address or PHONE NUMBER for this church in Graysville. Calvary United Meth Ch on Fish Creek rd off HWY 2.
Beware! There is a Graysville PA for anyone trying to use GPS to find this cemetery. It may lead you there instead. This cemetery is easy to find, pass the power plant South of Moundsville and see a road sign on the Right Fish Creek turn to the East follow around and it is the first church you come to!
|Robert Hague||Obit of Caroline Willa Hansell McCord|
Thank you for the obit of Caroline Willa Hansell McCord. It is a lot of work to transcribe such a lengthy obit, but I believe that it contributes to the memorial giving some incite of the person of Caroling Willa Hansell McCord.
Your work is appreciated.

Would you mind transferring management of four memorials to me? They are memorials for my great and great-great grandparents. This would help me tremendously in providing information that would link my family line. The ID numbers are 44941679, 44941724, 149633182, and 149632282. Thank you!
|Jrigdon||RE: Pvt Samuel L. Miller|
I really want to THANK you for transferring Pvt Samuel L. Miller to me. I started to add more to his Find A Grave page last week and decided to research more about him before doing so. I was appalled at what I found! I checked the 1850 census and found that he was on 4 months old at the time that it was taken in Oct 1950. That means that he was only 11 years 10 months old when he joined the CSA Army on 16 May 1862 and was most likely just days short of his 13th birthday when he fought and was captured on July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg. He died in FT Delaware Prison at age 13 years 3 months!
I had a GG grand father that was considered to be the youngest man in the Confederate Army (joined at age 12 in 1863, fought at Kennesaw Mountain and captured on 27 Jun 1864.) but SLM was even younger! But history has completely overlooked him.
Also the internet family trees containing him are all messed up! He had two brothers (and his father) also named Samuel. Private SL Miller is usually confused with his brother Samuel K Miller born in 1844. Another brother Samuel Lafayett Miller was born in 1854 and died in Alamo Ga in 1923.
I also especially want to thank you for creating a Find A Grace site for him. If you hadn't done that I would have never found that he died in Ft Delaware or would have discovered any of this, since no one in the family ever knew what became of him after he went into the army. And FWIW he was the brother of my GGG grand mother.

Sheron, thank you so much for accepting the edits for the Harrison children buried in Brentwood Cemetery. I am so happy to have these little ones linked with their parents and family. Thank you also for the lovely surprise of transferring the memorials to me. Super sweet of you to do that and I greatly appreciate that consideration! Sending my best wishes to you and all your volunteer work! Pat
