End o' Day|
We are shadows

and a slice of Siggie's brie.@Nancy Vicknair 2015
I identify as a New England gal through and through, even though I pioneered to California many sunsets ago.
I grew up with beautiful East Rock right outside my window at 239 Everit Street in New Haven CT and miss it everyday.
The past is where my heart is and I discovered the infinite joys of family research and history when I was very young. A trained medieval historian and art historian, I planted my roots deep in scholarly research also and methodology at NYU and Columbia University.
I believe in the adage that harkens to find truth in everything. Needless to say, my ancestral background has had a profound influence on me.
Surnames researching - Ogden, Augur, Battersby, Phelps, White, Vicknair, Boldt

You're very welcome. I would bet that John is buried somewhere in the churchyard or even in the church itself as was sometimes done. But if he had been buried within the church the crypt would have been destroyed when the British burned the church down in 1780. And even if it had survived that, it would not have survived the later fire which destroyed everything but the brick walls of the church.

No, no Californians in this clan. We are mostly near Portland, with a few scattered elsewhere. One group is actually in Kyrgistan currently!
Your career as a medievalist sounds very exciting! If I had started on the family genealogy earlier, I might have been drawn to that, as well. When I learned that my Viking ancestors plundered Lindesfarne, I was both shocked and fascinated. :-)
I look forward to hearing from you again. Feel free to use my email.

Hello Nan. Apparently we are some kind of cousins, as we both descend from John Augur who married Barnes. This is my line:
john III Augur (1748 - 1827)
son of rachel barnes
capt. daniel page Augur (1781 - 1834)
son of john III Augur
julius smith Augur (1817 - )
son of capt. daniel page Augur
julius Augur (1873 - 1924)
son of julius smith Augur
Frank Miller Augur (1883 - )
son of julius Augur
Frank Miller Augur was my maternal grandfather. Frank and his wife Nellie left CT after nearly 300 years of family history there, in 1924. They packed up their six children into an open touring car and drove all the way to Vancouver Washington where Nellie's father awaited. It was a momentous adventure, in 1924. There are about a hundred of us descendants living out here in the wild west now and we are a happy crew.
Please jot me a note and let me know what kind of cousin you might be. :-)

|Daniel Gabehart||RE: nancy Vicknair California here|
That's the piece of the puzzle that was missing. Tom. Bernice is my Mom, we lost her at the age of ninety (sounds premature doesn't it) in 2013. My sisters (Loretta and Pat) and I went out to the Bay area last October to visit Mom's siblings. We went back for a "cousins organized" get together after Easter of this year. Nancy and Linda were the only Vicknair cousins in attendance. Theresa and Lyndy (that's what Mom always called him, so consequently we do too) seem to be holding up well for old-timers. Seems I saw some photos on the wall of your and Tom's progeny and +. Living in Texas has caused us to not stay in contact as much as we should or could have. We got our photos primarily from Mom and Helen. I bet there are a ton of photos in California that we have not seen.
Well it is nice to bump into you in the cyber graveyard. Now I know my second "Nancy Vicknair."

|Beautiful Savior Is My Lord Jesus Christ||Hello Nan,|
Thank you for visiting my beloved friend Andrea Plaza and leaving a lovely token for her. I left some tokens for you beautiful family as well.
Thank you so much for visiting Ralph and being a friend to him. In the end it is love that always wins out. God Bless.
|Cinnamon Girl||RE: Sir Bubba|
Thanks for the reply. Today is his Angel Day and twice I have
placed a token of a small child. I will go back to his memorial
and delete those two and replace with correct tokens. So
very sorry! Hugs!
|Cinnamon Girl||RE: Thank you|
Hello Nan - could you clarify something for me? Is Sir Bubba
Boldt Vicknair a pet or a person? I am wondering so in the
future I can place the correct kind of token/remembrance.
Hugs, Jean Ann
