|Rebecca Reuben Dyer||RE: Thank you|
ALSO, WHAT LINES ARE YOU RESEARCHING???
PERHAPS I MITE HAVE SOMETHING YOU COULD USE.
AND I HAVE A LIST OF FREE PLACES TO RESEARCH -
WOULD YOU LIKE THAT?
|Rebecca Reuben Dyer||RE: Thank you|
YOU ARE MOST WELCOME.
WILL GET INFO TO YOU TOMORROW -- IT is storming now.
|Rebecca Reuben Dyer||SOURCES|
FIRST, YOU ARE DOING A WONDERFUL THING BY SHARING GENEALOGY WITH YOUR GRANDDAUGHTER. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE MOST ENRICHING THING YOU CAN DO. REGARDING FIND A GRAVE SOURCES, I WOULD SIMPLY PUT:
SOURCE: www.findagrave.com, FIND A GRAVE FOR SARAH EMMALINE PEARSON BRODIE, Created by: Rebecca Reuben Dyer, Record added: Mar 08, 2010, Find A Grave Memorial# 49446227
IF THERE ARE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT YOU USE, I WOULD ADD: PHOTOGRAPHS COURTESY OF REBECCA REUBEN DYER [AND ADD ANY OTHER INFO CONTAINED WITH THE PHOTO]
THERE ARE MANY VARIATIONS TO SITING SOURCES - MOST IMPORTANT IS TO SITE THE SOURCE WITH AS MUCH INFO AS YOU CAN AND GIVE CREDIT TO THE AUTHOR OR PERSON WHO POSTED THE INFORMATION. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE GOOGLED A SUBJECT AND SAID TO MYSELF "HEY, THIS IS GOOD INFO," STARTED READING AND THOUGHT,
"BOY, THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR," AND THEN DETERMINED I WAS READING MY OWN WORK UNDER SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME. THIS IS A VERY BAD THING FOR MANY REASONS.
IF YOU WANT TO SEE HOW I SOURCE MY MATERIAL, I WILL BE HAPPY TO EMAIL YOU A FAMILY SHEET.
ONE THOUGHT I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE WITH YOU IS THE THESIS OF A LECTURE I HEARD ON GENEALOGY -- INMATES WHO BEGIN THE STUDY OF THEIR GENEALOGY ARE THOSE LEAST LIKELY TO BECOME REINCARCERATED. THIS IS SUCH A POWERFUL STATEMENT. OUR HISTORY IS IMPORTANT AND THOSE NOT INTERESTED ARE MISSING A LOT.
EXAMPLE OF SITING A BOOK:
SOURCE: Marriages of Pittsylvania Co VA, 1806-1830, compiled/published by Kathleen Booth Williams, 1965, p47
25 Nov 1822: George Dyer, sur. for Coleman Dyer and Louisa Shelton, d/o Leroy Shelton, who consents.
I HOPE THIS ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION. I WILL BE HAPPY TO SEND YOU MORE IF YOU LIKE.
BEST WISHES, REBECCA

|Tommy Land||RE: Harris gravestones|
Your granddaughter certainly may use the pictures she needs for her project. Tell her I said good luck with her research.
|Julie Hampton||RE: Harris gravestones|
That would be fine. Thanks for asking!

No relation. I'm just a Find a Grave volunteer working on photos and memorials for Oak Hill Cemetery. Glad I could help. I like to fill in the blanks on the memorials and related memorials I'm working on.
|D Rowland||RE: Question about Cemetery names|
This cemetery was previously named Banks Cemetery because it is in the Banks community of Carroll County.
It is located at the intersection of Terry's Mill Road and Reed Island Springs Road. The address is 76 Reed Island Springs Road, Meadows of Dan, VA.
Although Reed Island Springs Baptist Church has a Meadows of Dan address it is located in Carroll County.
|Truman Adkins||RE: Graves of Alexander & Mariah Wood|
Yes, they are a short walk off the road.
