|Jay Hauser||Lina Estella Cray|
I am researching the life and death of Lina Estella Cray. You posted her grave.
I am currently in the Somerset Valley Players production of Footloose, and a lot of weird stuff is happening. There are rumors that a little girl named Lina (Lena, maybe) is haunting the theatre. She supposedly went to the playhouse when it was a schoolhouse. We call her "Little Girl Blue". I did some research, and the only grave nearby that matches the description is the one you posted about. I was wondering if there is anything you could tell me about her. How did she die? Did she go to the schoolhouse? Anything at all would be helpful.

Another clarification, I am descended from William C. Hockenbury and he was one of many children of William H and Rebcca E. The father remarried Amy and had 4 more children that grew to adult. William C. moved to Illinois with a sister and that is why the family lost contact with the other New Jersey relatives. Thanks, Diana
|Diana Mozumder||Rebecca Elizabeth Crate same person|
Rebecca E. Crate is the same person as Elizabeth Crate. Her children referred to her as Elizabeth so I think that she used her middle name except for legal issues. Also, her children said their father, William H. was born in Holland and born in New Jersey!! I wonder if it had something to do with the war that he did not want it known that he was not born in the US. Anyway, that is the same person too. It will be wonderful if you can find his parent's grave. Our family tradition says his mother was named Mary, but that could be just the name she went by like Rebecca used Elizabeth. He did have at least one sibling, a sister, so maybe that grave is there too. Thank-you so much for searching this all out. It is exciting to have their markers now. Maybe others will appear as well. Diana
