I would like to ask if you would take a moment to place a flower at my dad's memorial, Gene H. Barnes (1928-2007) at Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas? Many thanks to those who have.
At one time or another, we have all looked at a cemetery and felt that the people buried there are not only long gone, they're also long forgotten. And if it happens to be our relatives or friends it can leave an especially empty feeling. But, Findagrave empowers us to put an end to those concerns. Therefore, I now view cemeteries as a place where people can be remembered and their stories saved and shared rather than lost.
Just one of the many lives that sticks with me is that of Daniel Cason, former slave and Union Civil War soldier who died in Newton, Kansas in 1911 at the age of 67. What incredible obstacles some have been forced to overcome.
Within most people, there is a basic desire to learn the events of their family's history. The fortunate ones get to experience those moments of discovery. As Gordon Lightfoot wrote, "to know the wherefore and the why."

Thanks for offering to transfer Mary Hayes Barnes to me, but it won't be necessary, as I don't have anything else to add to her memorial. My 2nd great grandfather (Isam King Barnes Sr)was married to her, but she was not my ancestor. He was actually married to 3 different Mary's, which makes researching more confusing. My ancestor was Mary Jane (Wilson) Barnes. I will have to check out the Gibbons in the Kansas Cemetery. My husband's Gibbons family hails mostly from Iowa, but it's entirely possible a branch of the family moved out to Kansas. Take care,
Allison (Barnes) Gibbons

If you are from the Burrton, KS area, you may be part of my Mourn family. There is a line a Barnes's in it.

No. I am not related to those Millers nor do I know of anyone who is researching that family.
I'm unaware of the Cole Family you mentioned. Several years ago there was a lady named Pam Thompson who was doing research on several Cole families. I do not have her current contact information though.

Just posted copy of Application for tombstone by widow of S C Barnes in Union Cemetery. There are many records mixed up with Stephen Barnes 1831-1912, both families and military records. I hope this record will prove who is in the grave at Union Church. I am now trying to separate the two families information.
