"Mrs. Aurelien Slaughter"
Hi Mary,
Last week I accidentally came across the grave of "Mrs. Aurelien Slaughter" died Oct 1923. My family was elated because this is my maternal grandmother who died when my mom was only twelve yrs old (are you a relative?) My mom (Marie Hazel Slaughter Stevens) was one of ten kids who NEVER knew that the grave was even marked, so it was not visited in 93 years!
My grandmother's full name was Marcelite Thibodeaux Slaughter who married my grandfather Aurelien Slaughter in Nov. of 1899.
I confirmed her grave with her State death certificate and church funeral records from Holy Ghost and St. Landry Catholic Churches.
This is endeared to her descendants; she never took a photo. Her personal grave is all we have and I plan to visit it real soon. Thanks for the special location mention of her marker being at the head of "Chester P. O'Conner's" grave. You have made this year very special for my family. WE THANK YOU FOR THIS MOST VALUABLE POST!!!!

Evalture Chastant and Cecile (Landry) Chastant

Thank you so much for finding their death notices and sending me your transcription. I added both to Cecile's memorial.

Cecile (Landry) Chastant was a sister of my children's paternal great-great grandfather, Henry T. Landry.

Elizabeth BERNARD Steen & Mother
Mary M.H. KLEPPING Bernard - Memorial# 82840923 &
Elizabeth E. BERNARD Steen - Memorial# 91988726

I did find a Louisiana Statewide Death Index which listed Mary's date of death as Nov 5, 1912 so I've changed the date on my family tree on

I will also link Elizabeth to her parents.

If there is something else you wanted me to do, please let me know.

Thank you for contacting me and sharing the information! I sincerely appreciate it.

Elizabeth BERNARD Steen & Mother
Mary -

I received your emails regarding Elizabeth Eloise BERNARD Steen and her mother Mary M.H. KLEPPING Bernard.

My sister and I actually have Elizabeth's parents listed on our family tree on I must have found them after I had added Elizabeth's memorial.

I was confused for a moment given the date of the obit you found for Mary because has Mary's death as Nov 5, 1921 vs the date of the obit you found for Nov 1912 (see the info from FamilySearch below).

I think given the date of the obit you found that FamilySearch must have made a typo and transcribed 1912 as 1921 - easy mistake.

Could you email me a copy of the actual obit (even a copy of what you found online) to my email address listed with my Findagrave account? If so, I will change my info on my tree to reflect 1912 as year of death vs 1921.

I will also add your info to Elizabeth's page but I'm not sure what else you want me to do - please let me know.

Thank you -
