Hi Janet I would like to provide you with more information on this young man who was my Great-Great-Great Uncle. Alexander of Smithville, Monroe County, Indiana. Was the son of John Lucas b. 16 July 1813 in Kentucky d. 16 June 1893 in Monroe County, Indiana and Kaziah Devar b. 27 Nov 1823 in Monroe Co, Indiana and d. 22 May 1881. Both are buried in the Lucas Cemetery in Smithville, Monroe County, Indiana.

John is the son of Solomon Lucas and Mary Grimes
Kaziah is the daughter of Jesse Devar and Martha (Patsy) Cain/Cane

Alexander had ten brothers and sisters six of whom were born after him including my great great grandfather John Bennington Lucas. If you would add this information to his site I would be grateful or if you feel you don't have the time I will gladly take over his page for you and give him the home and family he deserves and will be forever grateful to you. Thank you for your time
and patience Judith E. (Lucas) Hudson

Abel H Bennett at Marietta, GA
Janet, I am interested in hearing more about the data and analysis you used to determine that the grave listed on Find A Grave Memorial# 3946711 belongs to Abel H. Bennett, who was detached to Battery M, 1st NY Light Artillery from the 3rd Wisconsin Battery for the Atlanta Campaign.
I have been researching the 3rd Wisconsin Battery for several years and have determined the burial sites for over 170 of the personnel. I could not find a listing for Abel H. Bennett, who per state and battery rosters was mustered out in July 1865 and then not heard from again. I knew that PVT AH Bennett was detached to Battery M for Atlanta, but have seen no records of his death during that detachment. Your data, however, gives plausible circumstantial evidence that AH Bennett died at Big Shanty. I'd enjoy discussing this issue with you and see if I can be firmly convinced that AH Bennett of the 3rd WI Battery is buried in this grave at Marietta.

RE: only Clapsaddle buried in TN
Where do you think he died? Lookout Mt? or is this one that "God only knows! and we can sort it out in heaven." A lot of our Clapsadles and Clapsaddles were military men. Goes back to the original immigrants who fought in the Revolutionary war. Thanks for the info! chris

only Clapsaddle buried in TN
You appear to be the expert on National Cemeteries! I am trying to add to the bio of George W Clapsaddle, I know his parents names through census and pension records and have added some information for his bio. I know that the 84th Ind fought at Chickamauga and also at Lookout Mountain 15 Oct 1863. What record did you use for his being wounded at Chickaamauga? Funny how he ended up in Nashville? (where only Union soldiers are buried, no confederate?)Thanks for any help.
