RE: Abner Ainger
Hi Janet,
When I was a historian at Andersonville for the NPS.. I took on a project in 2010 to photograph all of the 14000 Union headstones at Andersonville. The stones had just been cleaned which makes for great clean photos. When the NPS took control of Andersonville NTL cemetery, they replaced a hundred or so of the 1989 headstones with more modern looking stones with engraved name and shield and not the type with the recessed shield. Back in 2009 when Obama was handing out money, a large amount was sent to Andersonville where the Supt. decided to replace these historically inaccurate 1970s stones with new period correct with the recessed shield. Abners headstone was one of these which is why its so clean and white. I have decided to make certain all Find A Grave memorials have their photos at Andersonville which will take some time, but as I check each one, I am adding my photos where they are well... to be honest ,,, better photos. Cheers

Greetings Mrs. Janet,

My name is Jacob, I'm 15 years old, and do family research. I noticed where you manage a memorial for my 5th great uncle, David Hope, and was wondering if you were related to him.
Thanks,
Jacob S.

RE: 14th OH Volunteer Infantry
OK, now I know. Art asked for marker photos of these soldiers who are very likely among the unknowns. When I said nobody knows which unknown is which(duh-uh...altho' you certainly know that many do have attached data in the register),then he asked me to provide "generic" photos of unknowns at CNC. I complied with a variety of my photos for unknowns in different CNC sections.

I don't recall the 14 entries. Can you give me some sort of reference to look at?

Capt. John F. Monroe
Hi Janet, Find A Grave#2989133 Chattanooga Nat'l Cem for John F. Monroe, this man has been confused with a Pvt John F. Monroe b: Powder Springs, Grainger, TN who joined 1 Aug 1861 in Jacksboro, TN as Pvt in Capt. Phillips Co B 1st Regt East TN Infantry, he became ill & deserted to hospital in Bowling Green, kY, he was ill most of his 3yrs in service, as of 1864 was listed as deserter - never returned...per family history he returned home & a disagreement insued & he left & the family never heard from him again...I shared this with #47799116 tonight.....hopefully this can be straightened out....I just wanted to give you an FYI....Gail Hinton Seward #46961204
