Even though I'm glad to help others with updates and even when I run across past obituaries and I transcribe them, please leave the information intact as they are written and give credit where credit is due. Glad to be here to do my research and help others in return. I don't expect anything else in return, and I don't ask for money, even though I have spent more then my wife would allow. LOL.

RE: You Rock!
You're welcome. Dominic didn't have a stone and I posted a pic of the spot and one of Dom and Josephine spots together for you. Hope that will suffice for Dominic's picture

RE: Photograph of D. H. Hamilton
Thank You for offering to send the picture of Sergeant Hamilton on a CD. Yes I would definitely like to get that. For publication the high definition and quality the better. That is why I ask first if there is a tiff file available for the photograph. But the picture on a CD will be just as good.
I have the book that Sergeant Hamilton wrote. Only 250 copies were published in 1962 by Morrison publications. I was extremely lucky to get a copy at a reasonable price for such a rare book. It is a great read as well!
I am on facebook if you are also on it. Just type my name and you will see my profile. Here is my address:

Joe Owen
642 White Springs Ranch Road
Blanco, TX 78606

If you need any money for the postage and to cover the cost of the CD please let me know, and I will be able to cover the expenses.

RE: Photograph of D. H. Hamilton
I will soon send a CD to you so you can download the picture of Sergeant Hamilton. I remember that controversy a few years ago about Governor Perry and it again is the media on a slow news day trying to find something that they can do their flawed reporting of.
I have always made it my policy to ask permission first of the owner of a photo or published work if I can use the image or recollection. So far 100% have been very agreeable and very friendly (you for example).
It is a pleasure to keep Texas history alive and I have enjoyed every minute of it! I get to meet good people such as yourself, and finding new pieces of history that nobody knows about. If you have facebook just type in my name and my profile picture is the flag of the First Texas Infantry Regiment that was flown at Sharpsburg. Also just send me a fb friend request if you are on Facebook. I look forward to keeping you updated on the progress on the book

Best Regards,
Joe Owen

RE: Photograph of D. H. Hamilton
Dear Kenny,
Thank you! I look forward to adding the photo of Sergeant Hamilton with his reminiscence of the battle of Sharpsburg.
I have a book that will be released on November 19th called "Texans at Gettysburg: Blood and Glory with Hood's Texas Brigade". It is on amazon for pre-order. If you type my name Joseph L. Owen on amazon you can see it.
Sergeant Hamilton wrote a few pages worth of his experience at Sharpsburg, but only skimmed through Gettysburg saying enough was written about the battle that he didn't have much additional information to contribute.
I am doing the research for the Texans at Sharpsburg now and it will take a year or so to gather all that I can, write and edit the book. I have a publisher out of Gettysburg that will help get the book finalize when it is ready and publish it. Probably around late 2016 to middle of 2017. There were alot more stories from the Texas brigade soldiers about Sharpsburg than Gettysburg. I look forward to making this a valued history of the battle and having Sergeant Hamilton's photograph to go with his story of the battle is a valuable contribution!
THANK YOU for allowing permission of the photo and I look forward to sending you a courtesy copy of the book.

Best Regards,
Joe Owen

Photograph of D. H. Hamilton
Dear Kenny,
Hello, my name is Joe Owen and I am currently writing/editing a book about the Texas Brigade that fought at Sharpsburg (Antietam). One of the soldiers who wrote his memories of the battle is D. H. Hamilton of the First Texas Infantry Regiment. I see that you contributed the photos of Sergeant Hamilton for his memorial. I would like to ask you if I can use his photograph for the book and if you happen to have a high resolution (tiff file) of Sergeant Hamilton, if so, I would like to use it for the future book and of course give you credit for the photograph. Please let me know if you have the photo or if you don't have the rights for the photo, who I should contact. Thank You again for your attention and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Joe Owen
