Welcome - |
We are doing a holy service by remembering the dead, and preserving history.
I think we all have a piece of the puzzle and if everyone contributes, questions will be answered.
please note - FINDAGRAVE as the name implies is a grave registration site and NOT a genealogy site. Although it can be very useful for genealogy.
This a wonderful site for remembering people. Peoples lives are fascinating and they deserve to be remembered and documented.
Please remember we are not just entering names or stones, but real people. Please ask yourself if your memorial is search-able. All memorials should have last names. Women who never marry, and children don't have maiden names. There is no maiden name unless the name changes. Also please do not use ().
Please do NOT create duplicates.
If you notice any mistakes, please let me know, and I will be happy to fix them. Nobody is perfect, we are all fallible human beings mostly doing the best we can at the moment.
We are merely stewards of 'our' memorials - we manage them and are entrusted with their care and maintenance, but we do not technically 'own' them.
Please read the FAQs (frequently asked questions). Thanks, and please try to resolved unknown burials ASAP.
Please free to use any of my photos with appropriate citations. Will also add updates, -the more info, the better. I don't have a policy about transfers - ask and we can work it out.
"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always." (author unknown)

Donna, I have updated his biography, if you care to take a peek and let me know if I need to change anything. Jeeze, this was a hard one.
But, the Good Lord gave me some good words to throw in at the end, that gave me a grin & helped me get past my tears, leaving a smile on my face.
I guess that last part, on the memorial... the words that HE gave me.... apply to us too, while making memorials. That with all the pain that I had learned of for Ramsey, I did what I needed to, tried to make the best memorial I could out of so much bad in his short life... Had to make lemonade out of all the sour lemons that life gave him.
I think, I hope, that I stirred it, just right. Let me know what you think.

Thank you Donna. You needn't have transfered, but thanks, and I will do my best with them.
You are right that 'maybe' the cemetery office would have something more than what I can dredge up.
It's really too bad, that Ramsey didn't "accidently" have recorded in the 1900 census, the amount of children they had, whether 3 or 4. I've seen it before where the enumerator wrote the answers to questions that weren't supposed to be answered. Darn grateful I am when those "accidents" happen, because they often were exactly what I needed to knock down a wall or nail something down. (who knew you had to know masonry & carpentry to do genealogy?!! Must be in our genes...) ^_^

Thanks for letting me know Donna. wow. just wow.
That huge monument. just wow.
Judging by the 'score lines' there ARE at least 3 babies recorded there. I can see where the etchings are but I can't read them. I wish I could so I could verify if that recording of a baby on 17 May 1895 and then the next on 17 May 1896 is correct or just a mix-up and was the same baby. But by those score lines, there definitely was the three. Just wish I could read the year(s) for the "17 May" one(s).
That is so heartbreaking. As I said, I'd have been in the loony bin. All those babies, all about 1 yr apart. Going through it over and over, same time of year..... That's like Bill Murphy's movie, "Ground Hog Day". ugh.

You are welcome. Their gravestone is very worn which you can see per the photographs. Ramsey & Jennie are buried right next to Jennie's parents, Daniel & Rachel Bowers whose stone is much more readable.
Can I please have management over my grandfather's memorial, #38605771.
