RE: William Wharton
Thanks. Would you consider removing the 1870 census remark? I've seen lots of errors like that. Census takers were not always accurate and misspellings were rife. LaVonne

RE: William Wharton
I am wondering if you have verified the information I sent regarding Sarah's first husband, John V. Davis?
I have been doing research on this family for several years and have visited and verified all my dates in both Illinois and Clarke County, Iowa.

Since William is on that 1870 census, you can definitely see that he is an offspring from John & Sarah Wharton. With the dates I provided you for John Davis and John Wharton's first wife, Margaret, he cannot belong to either of them.

Also, he was born in MO and the family didn't move there until 1863, 3 years after their (John & Sarah Wharton) marriage & 2 years before his birth. If you would allow the 1865 birth date for William, it would put him in the correct order with his brothers and sisters.

You can check each sibling and see that they are on census and death records. I have researched all of these people and verified all information.

Please reconsider your stance on William C. Wharton's birthdate.

Thank you, LaVonne

RE: William Wharton
Yes, I forgot about the Davis. Here's the rundown.(I have submitted a bio for Sarah and it has not been added.).

Sarah grew up in Marshall Co. Illinois (see William James-my great, great grandfather, there in 1850.) She married John V. Davis on 19 Jan. 1853. They had one son, Charles, moved to Clarke Co. Iowa where John V. was a storekeeper. He died in Clarke County, Iowa on 18 June 1857. Unfortunately, there is no grave recorded.

John Wharton married in Monroe Co. IN to Margaret Pindle in 1836. They had 6 children (one died in Civil War and is buried in TN & one is buried by her mother in Sanders Cem. Clarke Co. Iowa.) They had moved to Clarke Co. ca: 1855. Margaret died
5 June 1858.

John Wharton & Sarah Ann (James) Davis were married in Clarke Co. Iowa 15 Feb. 1860. They had 7 children together, 3 in Iowa and the last 4 in MO. All of the children starting with Moses are theirs and therefore Whartons. I have submitted a correction for that 1860 census.

If you get on the usgenweb Worth Co. MO site, you can see a county history book (on Google) with a good bio of John Wharton on page 385 (I believe). I couldn't copy it. LaVonne

I believe you're correct. I was trying to place her. You can not go by what somebody tells you.

RE: Francis Stephenson #84422525
I would like to know more about this Francis Stephenson (2014)as I was told she moved to Missouri.
Nobody in that part of the family is living and was told she had passed some time back.

RE: Thomas Wallace
Such an interesting life. As you say it doesn't always happen that you get such a well expressed obit with all the detail. Thank you for posting it. Julia Johnson
