Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years age
spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.
I found this and fell in love with it but, do not know who wrote it. Hope that you enjoy reading it.

Hello and thank you for all of the information on the Slaughter/Pritzen line that you have shared with me. I have one more question. On John Pritzen's memorial you say that the "Maxey's family tree" they showed four boys and five girls. Are you speaking of Barney Maxey and Angeline Hamm's children? Because they had 10 children that I am aware of. And do you know who would have this family tree.

So Saddie and Hassie are sisters of Sallie? And are they the daughters of Daniel Gill Slaughter and Elizabeth Knighton Slaughter?
From what I understand my "little" grandmother who was Myrtle Angeline Slaughter Lumpkin was the daughter of Daniel Gill Slaughter and his second wife Mary E. Slaughter. They had 8 children together. Unfortunately I never knew any of the children from Daniel Gill and Elizabeth Knighton. But I did know all of my grandmother's siblings.
Anything that you can tell me about them would be wonderful......stories, or anything you can remember. Many thanks.
P.S. Please add me as a friend.... :)

Are you a relative? I saw the flowers you left. Daniel Gill Slaughter was my great grandfather but it was with his second wife Mary Elizabeth "Bettie" Maxey where my lineage discends. I never knew any of the family with his first wife Elizabeth Ann Knighton. He had 8 children with my greatgrandmother Maxey.

Thank you also for her obituary information! I am not related to her so would be glad to transfer her to you if you'd like. I am also not related to Mr. Harfield. I was at the Minden cemetery only once to get photos of some family members and while there I snapped a few photos of other graves.
Thank you so much for the obituary information you provided on him. I have added it to the memorial. Mary
