Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love doing Genealogy. I started around 2001 before the loss of my grandma Mosteller. I have a tree on ancestry with over 8,500 names on it. Sronce/Scronce/Schronce/Shronce from at least 25 states. Other names I have are Mosteller, Morgan, Crump, Alexander, Clark, Reinheart, Reynolds, Cline, Taylor...and others. If there is any way I can help and have time I will.

There are many other spelling also (I have seen none of the others on tombstones and would love to know if that is the way they spell their names as of now and their relationship to me)...The original spelling is Schrantz (which means a split coat or someone who was around kings)...Other spellings include Schrontz; Schrance, Schronse; Shrontz; Swronce; Seronce; will add more as I remember them...

The best reference guide I have come across is the book "Leaning towards the Scronce's". This was a very very helpful book, but filled with many mistakes and pitfalls. The Author Christopher Boyles - His grandfather helped do a lot of the leg work for this work and many people was interviewed.

Han's is shown as being the first Schrantz from our line to come to America his arrival was in 1747 and originated from Germany...Prussia as it was known then. From further study I found the Schrantz clan was originally from Bern Switzerland, starting around 1500.
From the book, It is speculated that Hans had a Son that later followed his father to America, they both settled in Philadelphia County, PA for some time. Nicholas ended up moving several times first settling in Lincoln County Kentucky then moving to Lincoln County North Carolina and then back to Lincoln Kentucky. In each state, his family stayed and started their own families. Not much is known about Nicholas children or any other Children of Han but there are several other Schrantz/Sronce/Shronce that show up in the 1790 and 1800 census that I could only surmise are his brothers/cousins/uncles.

Thanks

Noel Sherman Sronce

Peter Sronce
Your request for a better picture for the grave of Peter Sronce was sent to me and I truly wish I could get you a better picture. The problem is he is listed on the official record at Fairmount as buried in the section marked "W". This stands for White. This cemetery was established in 1882 and has about 9,508 spaces. Many of these spaces are not marked and some had markers but were destroyed for one reason or another. I took pictures of this entire cemetery last year and when there was no specific grave, I placed a picture of the general area where that person was buried. So I am sorry your request cannot be fulfilled by me. Others are welcome to try to find his grave or you might check with Mr. Weaver in the city cemetery office to see if they can find it. Ruth Smith

Thanks Michael for the links to her parents. Do you know what her birth date was. Since she was born in SC, I can't find any birth records.

FYI: Noticed on their memorial pages their birth years are 1873 but their headstones say 1874. while I was there I also took photos of Ralph, Lillian and Teddy's headstones. Will add Ralph and Teddy's photos as soon as the system will allow. I am currently getting an error message and to try back later. There was no request for Lillian; can I assume you want that as well?

You are welcome, almost didn't find John Coy Craigs, it was half covered up, had my son use the snow to scrub off the dirt :) Glad you enjoy :)

RE: Stephen R. Scronce
I couldn't resist taking pictures in the snow and I had to go to Hickory today, so I picked that cemetery to take them in. It is usually really hot and sunny, so cold and snowy was different.
