Hi, although my interest in graveyards hasn't waned, I'm not an active contributor here at Find-A-Grave, so I've passed along my memorials to folks whom I believe will be interested in maintaining them.
For folks who descend from Greenup McClure and/or share my Venard lineage, you may be interested in my blog pertaining to the Pioneer Cemetery in rural McDonough County, Illinois.
(Other surnames represented in the Pioneer Cemetery include Wilson, Brundage, Calvin, Husted, Buzzard, Whitson, Gibson, Thompson, and more . . .)
If you are interested in the County Farm Cemetery in Henderson County, Illinois (as I am), the library in Biggsville, Illinois has a very complete publication available with information on the poor farm residents and the individuals buried in the Poor Farm cemetery. There are many Henderson County surnames associated with that institution.
"He who has gone, so we but cherish his memory, abides with us, more potent, nay, more present than the living man." ~ Antoine de Saint Éxupéry

 | Mary Elizabeth Gore Baker Where did you get the wonderful portrait of Mary Elizabeth Gore Baker that is on the Findagrave page? She is my great-great-grandmother and I have a portrait taken when she was in her 80s, but I have never seen this one. | | | Ron Chapin
 | RE: Charles Gay Glad you found him easily. Yes, I know what you mean about not wanting to be found. I have 8 or 10 back in that area that refuse to found. I know they are there, I just can't find them. I'm trying to determine who was the first one to be buried there. Have one death date of 1820 which is the oldest so far. I know the first recorded death in Henderson county was Caroline Wood,1844. I have 1426 names in a data base for the old part of the cemetery. | | | Ron Chapin
 | RE: Re: A Nice Surprise #80799991 That is so cool !! I did have the right guy, I tracked Chalmer out west, but just was not sure if he was related or not. If you drive into the main entrance and head east as far as you can go, turn left, then left again when the road turns, two plots to the left is where he is located. There is a big Ives stone on the right side of the road. Thank you for sharing his story,I often wonder about things like this, Ron | | | Ron Chapin
 | RE: A Nice Surprise #80799991 Charles is buried in the west half of plot 350. Plot was purchased by james Gay. I stumbeld over the stone looking for Pershin and noticed that his name wasn't in the Ross/Evans book, so I put it on here. I tried to find out who he was, but was unsucessful, about all I found was a telegraph operator. I will transfer it to you if you wnat, Ron | | | M
