My name is Drew Techner. I am honored to maintain memorials for all military members buried in the Soldiers' Home burial Lot at Mount Moriah Cemetery (Yeadon, Pa.) to embrace "the Warrior Ethos of honoring the sacrifice of those fellow Soldiers who died in service to our Nation."

I am proud to have served as the Department of the Army's only full-time casualty officer from 2006 to 2011. During this time, I assisted fifty Army Families that lost their loved ones.

I am also honored to maintain memorials for all Philadelphia Police Officers that died in the line-of-duty. Anthony Washington and I worked in the same back office at Southwest Detectives. He was a good friend that always treated me well and I was shocked when he died. I went through the Police Academy with Moses Walker. We walked the footbeat as rookies together. After 20 years, I met him again in the 22nd District and we talked. Less than a week later he was dead. Gary Skerski would always pull up and pick up my paper when I was a rookie walking the footbeat. He was not assigned to work the night he died. He was working overtime to pay for his children's tuition. I wish I could have understood this before he died. I later visited his grave to talk to him and say I was sorry for our fallout. Robert Wilson worked for me in the 22nd District. He was a young and very active officer. Thank God I listened to his sergeant who asked if he could put him in for Officer of The Month. I agreed. A month later Rob heroically gave his life standing his ground against two monsters with guns that entered a Game Stop store where Rob was. Captain Drew Techner (retired).
