Death comes once, but a cemetery is forever

The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important. --Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
Please feel free to contact me about any graves I have listed. If I have listed someone that you are related to and I am not and you would like them transferred to you, please just let me know. If we are both related then I will have to think about it. Please feel free to use any of my photo's anywhere you want.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and the date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who cares
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you."
A LIMB HAS FALLEN
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.

|Anna Lee||Isaac Griffith|
It appears that we have an ancestor in common. Isaac Griffith (1800-1882) is my GGG Grandfather. I descend through his daughter, Nancy (1835-1932), who married John M. Honaker.

I am sorry I did not find a stone for him. I searched that entire section, it just is not that big.
Please see the caption on the photo.

I know what you mean about 'Trickel' or 'Trickle'. The book 'Early Pioneers of Champaign County' by Milton W Matthews had her named spelled Trickle.

|WendyT||Lottie Trickel, the daughter|
There is a stone in Franklin Cemetery that is for a 14 year old girl, daughter of A J and S Trickel. The birth date lines up with one that is in Saucerman. Born 1859, died 1884, Pretty sure this is the same person. (Several of the stones list the mother as S Trickel, but it must stand for Charlotte) Is it possible that her memorial should be at Franklin. Death dates are different.... Meanwhile, I have a photo.

|Gary Wise||Mary J. La Flesh|
Henry James Wise was my great grandfather, which makes Mary J. La Flesh my great grandmother on my father's side. I am trying to fill out my line back on the La Flesh line. Or make sure I have the correct information on the other lines. That then brings me to you. Do you have a family tree in Ancestry.com?
Looking forward to hearing From you, cousin.
|WendyT||Martha & Fred Steinmann|
The stone was extremely hard to read, which is why I have 2 photos from different angles. It's the best I could do at the time. If I get an opportunity to get a better photo, I will!

|WendyT||Martha Steinmann request|
I found a Martha Steinmann, but dates are different. 1867 - 1943. I think that it is the right one, on the same stone as Fred J. Steinmann, 1878 - 1956. Shall I post?
