I have been doing genealogy research since 2001. I love the challenges and the excitement of knocking down those brick walls. I want to thank all of the findagrave.com volunteers who do such a great job with fulfilling the photo requests. It makes such a difference to have photos to go along with the memorials. |
In Dec 2012 I become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which has been a goal of mine for many years. I look forward to becoming involved in my community with their projects which help support our local Veteran's Home.
Findagrave.com has strict rules about not copying other peoples photos as they are copyrighted material. With this in mind, I would appreciate it if you don't copy the photos I have posted without my permission. I have recently discovered some people have done this and then posted the photos to trees on ancestry.com without even bothering to source where the photos came from. This is discourteous at best. If you are going to copy photos without my permission, at least be honorable enough to say where you found them. The same goes for any other info you cut and paste from my memorials such as bios and obituaries. Just say where you found the info so others can be guided to this site.
Some of my ancestor lines are: Turnidge, Decker, Peters, Berberich, Claymon, Eden, Classen, Wirth, Irwin, Pennington, Terrell, Crowley, Fletcher, Connell, Atkinson, Glover, Curd, Vorce, Clarke, Russell, Letman, Whitton, Nutting, Lea, Letman, Boyce, Baker, Douglas, Rhea, Perkins and Griffith.

Glad you enjoyed seeing this treasure. If you click on the image, you can see the source is within the description (a pension file). Happy Holidays / Merry Christmas!

Hi! Photos for Joseph have been added. It is finally raining here in Chicago so hopefully the grave marker is being cleaned. If you remind me at some point I will go and take updated photos. Ace

Photos for Vitula are now posted.
If it was not for her unusual name I would not have found this grave marker. It had fallen off of its base, which is broken, and was partially buried. I could read "Vitula," but I could not find "Hickok." I took a chance and dug her dates out of the dirt. Since the dates were the same as posted on the website, I figured I had a match.
If you create the memorial for Joseph Harrington and add the photo request I will post pictures for him too.
In the first picture I posted you can see the base the grave marker should be sitting on behind the circular marker. Both of the "arches" the circular marker sits on are not attached to the base and were lying down when I found this site.

Yes it is. When they bloom, they are beautiful and make great Memorial decorations.
Also, as far as the Helmke family plot, I do not have any more information other than the names and dates on the markers.

You are very welcome! I am glad I could help in your search. Yes those are plants, peonies, actually. They usually bloom around Memorial Day and they are very common in this area.
