Bio Photo Thanks to Bentley Fallis for the following info for the unmarked graves in Hillview East:

During the great flu epidemic of 1918 my dad was all of twelve years old and he said that CW Coleman , who wrote the county history, was a scout leader and a school official got a group of scouts together to dig graves as there were so many dying and having to be buried hastily during the epidemic. Maybe the city kept a record. In the old days the lots were sold and there is an actual deed recorded in the Troup county courthouse. I know as I have the deed from my grandparents lot from October 1923.
They also helped during the night that the tornado literally (1920)removed houses in the SW end of Callaway village I believe the end of Stonewall and Troup streets. Anyway the only light they had searching for people was Mr. Coleman's car which my dad learned to drive that night at 14 years old. He also had to go get gas and kerosene to help out.

There are over 400 "unknown" in the Hilview East also known as Hillview Annex Cemetery in LaGrange, Georgia, in the Pauper Section.. If you know who any of them are, please contact me. Of the 19 that have been identified by family and now have a marker with name and dates, the death year ranges between 1900 and 1949.

If you have a loved one that died in LaGrange Georgia or Troup County Georgia, and you have not found their grave, consider that they may be here.

I would appreciate it if you could leave a few flowers on their memorials. They are listed as Pauper Unknown and have the number that is on their marker.

THE CEMETERY PHOTOGRAPHER

Wandering among the stones I see
The stones so weathered and worn
‘Tis difficult to find the date
On which the babe was born

I stare at the stone and am struck with awe
At the life that I knew was gone
This was someone's child, a babe so sweet
With loved ones to carry on

So I take a photo for all to see
For the family that remains
An everlasting memory of
A child of God's domain

I brush the weeds back from the stone
And say a silent prayer
For the babes that had no chance to live
And for mothers everywhere

The dove calls out it's mourning song
Among the stones so still
Echoes of the woes, through time
The choirs of despair

The stone will someday perish
The flowers will be gone
But a photo now remains of this
Their memory lives on!

And so my friend, don't hesitate
To film the weathered stone
Those who live within your hearts
Are never truly gone.

Charles Edward Rowe
Hi there,
I wanted to write and let you know of more history of Charles Edward Rowe. Charles was adopted by James and Nettie Rowe in 1954. He was originally from Augusta, GA and his name was Charles Leon Bruce. They changed his name to Charles Edward Rowe. I know on all his records they have him being born in Troup and or Meriwether County and he is from Richmond County. I am married to his former wife and I knew Charles for over 25 years. I have helped him locate some of his family in the Augusta area. He passed away in LaGrange at West GA Medical Center. He died from serious lung disease and liver problems. It has been a hard time since he passed. Anyway I thought you might want to know some more detail of his life.
Thanks,
Mike Moon

Thank you for response I am standing by a locked door that I can not open! I called the Cemetery they have no records! I called the Funeral home they have no records going back that far and neither the County or the City Of College Park were no help! I assume she must be unmarked or buried in someone else's lot! I do not knot where to turn now!
