Bio and Links
Bio Photo "We are who we are because they were who they were" (unknown). I have been interested in my family history for many years. After retiring from teaching, I have been able to pursue solving the mysteries and following the paths of those who have come before us. Burleighs, Burns, Bakers, Hastings, in Indiana and Cheney, Mason, McWilliams, Lindseys in Iowa are our primary families. If I have added one of your family members, I will be happy to transfer it to you on request.

Five of us are in the process of updating our Library records as well as the Find A Grave listings in Morgan County, Indiana. If I request an edit for a memorial you have created, it is because we have found additional/or different information from what was originally recorded. If you are checking on family history, please check the pictures on the memorial as not all edits have been completed yet from our requests. The following cemeteries are completed:
St. Martin's Catholic
Gose Creek
Greenlawn Cemetery including Mausoleum -as of July 2014-(combined with Old South Park and New South Park in Find a Grave, but they are three separate cemeteries adjacent to each other)
Miller Family
Morgan Family Cemetery
Mount Nebo
Mount Olive (Landersdale area)
Mt. Zion-Hall
Mt. Zion-Morgantown

If you are looking for family in these cemeteries, all remaining stones have been photographed and recorded. Five of us have gone over those locations multiple times and have been unable to find any stones that are not pictured on Find a Grave. Indiana does not permit probing without a permit so most of these have not been probed. We will continue to update this list as we complete the cemeteries.

Permission is granted for any photographs you want to copy. They are your family and your memories.

RE: Townsend photos
Yes, the Carl Stanley Townsend and Carl, son of Sherman Townsend, are the same person.

I have submitted info on the Goss names on the back of the stone.

Townsend photos
Thank you so much for the Townsend photos in New South Park Cemetery. You went beyond what I asked for and added additional photos of family in the same area as the Thomas Jefferson Townsend (132870693) burial.

I am wondering about the wife of Thomas Jefferson Townsend - Malinda Jane Cox. She was living with son Sherman in 1920 and 1930. According to family, she died 16 Oct 1939 in Martinsville. Since her husband and a number of children including Sherman (134157573) are buried near each other in the South Park Cemetery, it seems Malinda Jane Townsend should be there too. Could she be on the back side of the large stone for Thomas Jefferson?
