"We are who we are because they were who they were" (unknown). I have been interested in my family history for many years. After retiring from teaching, I have been able to pursue solving the mysteries and following the paths of those who have come before us. Burleighs, Burns, Bakers, Hastings, in Indiana and Cheney, Mason, McWilliams, Cram, and Lindseys in Iowa are our primary families. If I have added one of your family members, I will be happy to transfer it to you on request. |
Five of us are in the process of updating our Library records as well as the Find A Grave listings in Morgan County, Indiana. If I request an edit for a memorial you have created, it is because we have found additional/or different information from what was originally recorded. If you are checking on family history, please check the pictures on the memorial as not all edits have been completed yet from our requests. The following cemeteries are completed:
Beech Grove Road (also known as Willow Grove and Robb Hill)
St. Martin's Catholic
Greenlawn Cemetery including Mausoleum -as of July 2014-(combined with Old South Park and New South Park in Find a Grave, but they are three separate cemeteries adjacent to each other)
Morgan Family Cemetery
Mt. Gilead (Brown's Crossing)
Mount Olive (Landersdale area)
New Salem Baptist
New South Park-as of September 2014-(See Greenlawn note)
Old Mount Olive Fairview(Church)
Old Mount Olive (Off Highway 37North)
Old Mount Olive(off Chapel Lane near Wilbur)
Old South Park-as of August 2014-(see Greenlawn note)
Stout (Buffalo Road)
Williams-Bradford Cemetery (Green Twp)
Zion Hill Baptist
If you are looking for family in these cemeteries, all remaining stones have been photographed and recorded. Five of us have gone over those locations multiple times and have been unable to find any stones that are not pictured on Find a Grave. Indiana does not permit probing without a permit so most of these have not been probed. We will continue to update this list as we complete the cemeteries.
Permission is granted for any photographs you want to copy. They are your family and your memories.

Thank you! I would never expect anyone to respond that quickly anyways. I just got back from vacation in Colorado and responded to some of my own edits and saw a few people I had information on for you. Enjoy your time away !

I'd like to manage the memorials of Hattie J. Pauley and her husband Lewis S. Pauley, both at New South Park Cemetery. She's a family member of mine. Thanks. 132870490 (hers) 132870605 (his).

|Debra Barnes||Thompson Cemetery|
Thanks so much for the pictures for the Thompson Cemetery in Morgan Co IN. Eliza Perry was my Great Great Grandmother and I have been unable to locate the headstone, but you found it. Thanks so much. I think she died in 1858 and not 1856 as the web site indicates. Please continue the good work your doing. Thanks you
|Barnett||RE: Ella Adams|
Thank you for the offer to transfer Ella Adams over, but I don't really know much else about her. I wish I could find her mother Ruth (Reynolds) Eggers grave too.
She was the sister to my 3rd great grandmother Cynthia (Reynolds) then their brother James Reynolds was also my 3rd great grandfather through a different line.
Ruth'sparents are buried in Taylor Cemetery (a Morgan/Monroe cemetery)
My Aunt by marriage has a sister who is married to the grandson of Augustus & Mary Perlina (Eggers) Hammack line. Never knew he an dmy dad were cousins until I worked this line.
