Bio

I'm an author, and retired home improvement contractor, transplanted to Anchorage, Alaska, by way of, Fredericksburg, VA, Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, and Allentown, PA but starting from NYC 16 years ago. Through this site I was finally able to locate the grave of my only full-blooded sibling, Dorothy Ann Behling, who died when she was 8 years old, having been severely retarded from birth. To my knowledge, no one, besides myself and my half-sister Tracy, has visited her grave in 40 years. Please, if you have the time, visit her page here and say hello. I'm sure she'd enjoy the company. She's in Long Island National Cemetery in Suffolk, NY

I'm a Vietnam era veteran, serving in the US Navy from July of 1974 to July of 1980 as a Gunner's Mate in the Gator Navy.

I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in New York City, both paid and as a volunteer, for fourteen years, although my family's business is in the construction industry.

From 1984 to 1986 I was the telecommunications editor for a major computer magazine, and authored several popular pieces of software, some of which are still being used.

I'm also the founder, and chairman of the board of directors, of the SP:WaW Depot Association, Inc., a non-profit WWII wargaming and historical society with more than 53,700 members worldwide.

Currently I'm the owner of a small general contracting company here in Fredericksburg, Virginia, though I'm taking it easy these days due to a serious knee injury. (Update: I retired and closed the company in 2011)

My longtime girlfriend and I recently got married (June 21st, 2010) and are enjoying a quiet honeymoon at home while she recovers from knee replacement surgery.

In my spare time I enjoy amateur (ham) radio, I'm a volunteer SKYWARN Storm Spotter for the National Weather Service and a member of the Anchorage Amateur Radio Club. My ham callsign is NT2C and you can usually find me on the bands at odd hours of the day and night.

Due to a recent spate of what I consider excessive photo requests by one member, I am no longer doing volunteer photos. It seems some folks just want to abuse the generosity of the volunteers, asking for photos of entire sections of cemeteries. The site really needs to set a limit on how many requests a member can make in a given period of time. I'm tired of seeing my mailbox filled with 30, 40, or 50 requests for photos, all from the same person or persons.
