Cleaning Grave Markers
Hi! I saw you left a message for "Erin G" (#47571515) when I informed her I fulfilled some photo requests.

Find A Grave specifically states, "Never apply bleach, ammonia, shaving cream, chalk, flour, baking soda, cornstarch, firm pressure or use anything abrasive. Do not post photos of recently chalked or shaving-creamed headstones."

If you search the "Help with Find A Grave" file in the left hand margin you can find this by searching for the word "shaving."

Even though you clean the shaving cream off, it leaves a residue that degrades a marker over time. The other part to this is that the marker is the property of someone else. There is only one known safe way to clean a grave marker: D/2 Biological Solution. You can find information at the link below: and then clicking on the "Graving" link at the top.

Tracing a grave marker instead of cleaning it is also not destructive (using tin foil to create a rubbing that reveals the words). Please let me know if you have any questions in regards to this information. Ace

RE: John Bentz
This is an example of "Fraktur". German based, typically used for birth and baptismal certificates. primarily for Lutheran and Reformed. Frakturs were made around 1740's to 1920's in southeast Pennsylvania. I have seen some to denote ownership of an important book like a bible or hymn book. As I said, not sure if it was his but a relation may have presented him with it at some point in his life (Like maybe a bible before going off to the Civil War?) Just a thought.

James Robert "Bobby" Campbell
Find A Grave Memorial# 83805366
Please check the Subject memorial's birth as you have him born in 1883, dying 1884 with child. I am thinking he was born about 1820 based on Census data as I have him in Family Search Family Tree as James Bellamy LJT9-L7X. Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated.

# 84416682 Julius Calvin Hendrix
Hi Larry & Susan,
I've added some info for Julius recently to his Find A Grave link. Here's some supporting data:

After moving to Spokane, WA, Julius married Edith B Morford Dyer, a widow with 6 children, in Superior, Mineral County, Montana on Feb 28, 1944.

This marriage did not last long. Edith married Oscar B Anderson Sep 3, 1948 in Seattle, King County, Washington.

Ruby A Spruiell Johnson
How sure are you of the maiden name for Ruby? In my family I have Ruby Williams, born 22 Dec 1914/1915 in Mo, married Marvin Johnson. They have 4 children, including Shirley and Don. She is in the 1930 census in Oregon Co, Mo. I'm wondering if these are the same person. Janet
